1. Poor internal communication - lack of team spirit, lack of positive feedback and poor communication between departments.
2. Focused too much on profit - Ensuring the company has a good quarter can be important, but solely focussing on the bottom line can be detrimental to the culture and business. It doesn't allow the company to recognize on what is happening internally, which leaves no room for employee engagement. There needs to be proper employee appreciation whether it's verbal gratification or incentives.
3. Lack of Empathy - When it comes to human interaction, empathy is important. Yet, when it’s not there, it can appear even more important. Engaging employees and having compassion for them and their lives is fundamental to creating relationships, trust, as well as positive work culture.
4. Poor Management and Leadership - It's important to have proper communication between management and employees. I am a huge believer in leadership, working towards a common goal. Not just having a "manager" who tells you all the negatives and has not enough experience. Unfortunately, I was treated unfairly, due to having a voice. I wanted a change in my department and explained how I felt unsupported. For that, I was penalized everyday. Blackline needs more leaders, not just "managers" - it's crutial to help your team positively, make time and lead by example. At the end of the day, we are all there for the success and helping each other grow!
