Pros

1. Blackline Products - I was extremely passionate about Blackline's products as it is truly taking the safety industry by storm. The company has some amazing talent behind the scenes, which really makes the company innovative. I love the fact that this product is helping change companies implement proper work alone safety. Not only does Blackline have a great product, but the company offers much more such as 24/7 monitoring centre, professional training/on-boarding, and 24/7 customer care. 2. I LOVED my job - I honestly felt extremely fortunate preforming my daily tasks. I was the positive person that our customers first interacted with once the sale was completed. As the Engagement Manager, I was the first voice/face who represented Blackline Safety to ensure that our customers safety solution was a complete success. It allowed me to dip in many different aspects from project management, to training, customer service, and much more. This job challenged me everyday and I loved the customers that I interacted with and as well as build lasting relationships. 3. Office - The office is unique and in a great part of the city, Inglewood. There is some really great people that I got to work with. 4. Personal Growth - This position really allowed me to expand my skill set. I was with the company for over four years and it was truly amazing seeing the company grow so drastically. I believe this position pushed me to be adaptable and a problem solver in many situations. It gave me confidence in being a strong public speaker, forced organization, and provided extensive knowledge on work alone procedures.

Cons

1. Poor internal communication - lack of team spirit, lack of positive feedback and poor communication between departments. 2. Focused too much on profit - Ensuring the company has a good quarter can be important, but solely focussing on the bottom line can be detrimental to the culture and business. It doesn't allow the company to recognize on what is happening internally, which leaves no room for employee engagement. There needs to be proper employee appreciation whether it's verbal gratification or incentives. 3. Lack of Empathy - When it comes to human interaction, empathy is important. Yet, when it’s not there, it can appear even more important. Engaging employees and having compassion for them and their lives is fundamental to creating relationships, trust, as well as positive work culture. 4. Poor Management and Leadership - It's important to have proper communication between management and employees. I am a huge believer in leadership, working towards a common goal. Not just having a "manager" who tells you all the negatives and has not enough experience. Unfortunately, I was treated unfairly, due to having a voice. I wanted a change in my department and explained how I felt unsupported. For that, I was penalized everyday. Blackline needs more leaders, not just "managers" - it's crutial to help your team positively, make time and lead by example. At the end of the day, we are all there for the success and helping each other grow!
