Misleading and Un-Impressed

Pros

Good experience right out of school, develops the ground work for construction management—dependent on your site team. Expense free living is beneficial in paying off student loan debts. Take safety very seriously.

Cons

Poor training program—really lacking. No work/life balance. Unfair compensation, too dependent on bonus, end up working lots of overtime for free. Directionless culture, no cohesion from site to site. Misleading in the interview process, they talk a big game but don’t preform. Lack any sense of organizational efficiency—redundant, out dated, slow to move and boring.

Blattner Company Response

We appreciate the feedback of your previous time with Blattner. We do take safety seriously because we value each of our employees and we're glad that you recognized this during your time with us. It’s unfortunate that your past time with the company isn’t what we’d expect at any time for any of our employees, but know that we have and will continue to make improvements for our employees and the company as we truly care about our people and their feedback. We’ve recently made updates to our training programs that incorporate better technology and teaching methods to improve the experience as well as the educational content. Also, we have a transparent promotion process that is available for our employees to read that can be accessed on our employee portal or by contacting human resources (for current employees). Additionally, we understand the demands of the construction industry and try to set these expectations during the hiring process to make potential new employees aware of it.

Pros

Decent pay, and Per Diem

Cons

Poor Management Long hours, was doing around 14-16, and working weekends My site manager will ask me to stay to finish some of his work or sites work while everyone else will be leaving early. If you are not part of original team and came in late to the project they basically exclude you out the job and only made you do the grunt work. Toxic work Environment with the PM when ever he made to the site, only came to bully the trades with his comments HR will not even care you put a complaint.

Pros

Company vehicle including gas and insurance. Rent covered up to a site specific amount. Per diem for 65+ miles away from home. Every site is different. Good site team will make for a good job. Family culture around site, team building activities like sporting events. BBQ grilling on site to enforce moral.

Cons

70+ hours a week with no overtime. Lack of support from Avon to the field. Lack of support from Engineering. "Not my job, you figure it out" attitude from higher up management to site teams. Site manager has authority to make work/life balance enjoyable or miserable, very easy to abuse. Everything is dependent on the site team.
