Significant issues with no support for change

Pros

Decent location downtown, some of the coworkers are good people trying to make change. Work life balance is "good" in the sense that you don't work a lot.

Cons

If you want to work 7 hours a day and coast this is a good job. However there is a significant culture of apathy, disinterest, and outright hostility. The vast majority of directors and above are at best ineffective and often openly antagonistic. Reports to HR and Senior Leadership about significant concerns around ethics and retaliation are completely ignored. Unsurprisingly, there is a revolving door of staff below the director level as anyone who cares about the company is quickly silenced and leaves.

GPO is a terrible group

Pros

If you’re tenured, you get to waltz into work at 10am, take a 2-hour lunch break, and then dash on outta there at 4pm without anyone saying a word. And you get to engage in unethical business practices with vendor partners that put the company and brand at risk. Nice! But, at least the younger people are smart and talented.

Cons

No strategy for growth. Incompetent management. Unwilling to address a workplace culture that is in a rapid downward spiral. In job interviews, management up sells the GPO and will flat out lie about the work and opportunities. This strategy allows them to bring in innocent, smart people who then desperately shoot out their resumes within 3 months of realizing their mistake of accepting their offer.

Pros

Coworkers are intelligent and passionate, exposure to a variety of healthcare topics, work hours are generally 9-5, strong company brand

Cons

Unfortunately cons are outweighing the pros for many on this team. Turn over is high and this trend occurs every few years with the current leadership. Teams are over committed and stretched thin accelerating the exit of junior staff. Leadership has convinced itself that turn over is high because of the younger makeup of the teams. This may be the case for a few, but majority have left because of slow/unclear career progress, lack of true management skills by managers, rampant nepotism, and overall unprofessional behavior by team leaders. Behavior is mimicked by others creating an even more uncomfortable work environment. Raises and promotions are only given to those who threaten to leave with a competing offer further lower team morale.
