Pros

98% of the people you work with are awesome, hardworking and down to earth.

Cons

Other 2% are unwaveringly selfish and self-interested, supported by fearful, spineless sycophants. The leadership culture is too timid and lazy overall to factcheck liars or curb sociopathic types, no matter the attrition on their teams or the poor engagement scores, or even complaints from partner teams.

Pros

Blue Shield is lacking funds so everything is going downhill.

Cons

Layoffs Health insurance for employees is high Team huddles for employee thoughts but not considering them Poor management they pushback cases or don’t answer group chats Lack of training New systems that don’t work has to send multiple cases before resolved PTO is now unprotected Only accrue 3 hrs of PTO as other 3 hours is sent to WTO (wellness time off) Difficulty obtaining a promotion No pay raise if you do get a promotion If you’re a senior and will be intermediate with new position your pay decreases. 3% raise every year No union and okay with being an at will employer HIGH TURNOVER RATE

Pros

Standard to below par benefits. Performance review cycle was ok as long as the tyranny of a particular marketing manager wasn’t involved.

Cons

Worked in the marketing dept just short one month before 100% vestment. Unexpected and hostile department takeover (again) to restructure and offer employees to reapply to new jobs classifications. After years of getting nowhere with HR in my reporting the intimidation and abuse by department leadership, it was time to leave BS. Turns out later the same abusive leader in charge of marketing who chewed up and threw staff under the bus was eventually convicted of grand felony embezzlement.

Thank you for leaving your review. I am shocked and disappointed to hear about your experience with us at Blue Shield, as this is not the experience that we want employees to have. Although you are a former employee, I would greatly appreciate it if you could please contact me so we can further investigate your concerns. Margaret Murn - Margaret.Murn@blueshieldca.com
