Pros

It's a stepping stone. Don't stay. This organization could be an amazing place to work. Actually, it is if you are not Black. If there was accountability and some real management training we could bring our best selves to work for the millions of members and providers in the network.

Cons

1. RACISM 2. When you encounter racism, neither your manager, nor skip level manager, nor HR will help you - only by taking a leave of absence will you be able to save yourself. You may come to find out your manager is racist - even if they hired you. 3. You have to work in California - so if you need to evacuate from the fires or want to work out of state ex. be with your family - this company will NOT support you. They'll provide you with Telehealth though... 4. If you are Black, HR will allow managers to continually micromanage and bully you. You may need to provide daily email updates. They will be permitted to abuse you and deny your rightful compensation. It's worse if they know you don't have a support system, husband, wife, etc. b/c they will prey on you. 5. An indifferent HR department who will let you suffer until your mental and physical health are damaged almost beyond repair. 6. If you're Black, you will not be promoted as quickly as other groups at the company. Be prepared to sit back and watch everyone else receive praise, additional compensation, leadership projects etc. 7. The behavior is NOT random. It is pervasive within the organization. 8. You will learn how horrible this place is within the first 3-4 months, despite their Great Place to Work certification. To understand this, you have to understand who works for the company. It is NOT as diverse as the marketing materials suggest. 9. NO ACCOUNTABILITY 10. You'll be subject to reviews that lack details and professionalism. Managers will not tie reviews to metrics, this way it's easier for them to say that they don't like your work and either fire you or bully you until you quit.

Pros

Great mission. Gives back to the community. Flexible thinking. I believe they really want to do something special.

Cons

Ineffective HR and leadership allows toxic culture to fester. Allows bad behavior to exist. Concerns to HR/Leadership are made and then they go into a black hole. I think they lose a lot of people because high performers lose motivation because of the culture.

Pros

All the perks of a larger org. Flexible and steady working hours. Possible to thrive in a cross functional team with a focused goal and approved budget.

Cons

Culture - lot of disrespect, lack of transparency, many leaders do not ‘walk’ the talk.
