Pros

Want some pros: global, passive aggressive, poor senior leadership. High skilled Senior Mgt Team, it takes skill to go from a global leader to a about out of business. Lunch brought in for Senior Mgt. Senior Leadership traveling business/first class, others in the back of the plane. The best job promotions , for example a Brazilian volleyball player can become IT VIP/CIO with no or little IT skills.

Cons

Stock is tanking, passive aggressive, layoffs, poor senior leadership, layoffs, layoffs, weak HR team. You get the best gossip grapevine at Boart Longyear, all starts with the HR team in Salt Lake. There is no respect for the common work or middle management. If you have no money, you think you are getting training.

Pros

There is a great group of people to work with and the opportunity to get global experience is a plus. There are lots of locations that you can call home and the pay is very fair for the industry.

Cons

The company hire/fire cycles are crazy. You never know who you might be working for or if you will even have a job tomorrow so there is no stability and thats a hard way to live.

Pros

Great work and family balance. I worked with a great team of artists. The projects were great and the other departments that I worked with were very understanding and will to educate so you could get your job done.

Cons

Not knowing anything about the mining industry it is a big wave length, years of plenty and years of famine. It was because of the lean years that my position was downsized. I really don't have anything bad to say about the company, just learn as much as you can about the mining industry to prepare yourself for the feast or famine business cycle.
