Pros

PTO is now unlimited, so thats good I guess.

Cons

Management have no experience or formal training in management and lack the skills needed to perform basic job functions of the departments they are running. Case in point- the Onboarding team (professional services). This department is overseen by a former call center employee and managed by a trainer and business analyst. None have ran a formal project from start to finish, nor can they begin to grasp the basic concepts of a PMO. The software codebase hasn't been touched in years (more than 10). Development spends all of their time building the same customizations over and over. Even though they are multi-tenant, nobody has figured out how to build these customizations so they are suitable for all clients, or at least available to them with minimal dev effort. A total waste of money and resources. They pretend to utilize scrum framework but product isn't involved and there isn't a single scrum master on the team. Instead it's a disjointed power struggle between the onboarding and development groups. There is no training, no mentoring, no support for employees. Everyone is spread paper thin. Communication is non-existent, bullying is ignored and there are management slack channels dedicating to berating employees. The now CEO previously ran Cybergrants, which was not a successful company. Unfortunately the other companies that merged into Bonterra alongside Cybergrants will befall the same fate under his "leadership". He has also conducted 2 rounds of layoffs in less than 3 years (not a great track record).

Pros

Remote work. Benefits eh. Pay batter after union contract.

Cons

Everything else. Bonterra is a conglomerate of better companies and ideas that have been systematically dismantled in favor of higher ELT pay and the active recruiting of additional VPs at the expense of the jobs of many passionate people trying to make the world a better place. There is no job security and morale is abysmal. The only people making out good right now are the people that have golden parachutes lined up already. For a progressive company ELT has actually stated to employees they have no idea how to improve diversity. A slack channel is doing the most. Women and POC have been pushed out of leadership positions only to be replaced by white men. Seriously, look at any pictures of leadership. Maybe Google some of the historical shots for comparison. We aren't talking about an abstract thing, or an I feel like this is happening, but issues communicated by the actual women and POC being impacted. They have had 4 rounds of layoffs so far and everyone in the company expects that to continue. Yet during meetings the CEO walks on his treadmill looking bored or leadership gets interrupted by their gardeners. They talk about employees who's livelyhood they endangered like they left of their own violations singing songs of joy and goodwill. The CEO is actively combative with employees in his blogs and in meetings and really comes off like he does not want you there. I believe him. They engage in union busting techniques while espousing the virtues of unions and how supportive they are to the ones already on the platform. The political arm, aka the platform used by the DNC for fundraising and communication, is being neglected and support, from customer facing to back end, has been hit hard by the layoffs. It is 2024 and their core values aren't "support our clients in this pivotal, existential crisis of a year." If you have questions about the Bonterra company values, search the companies they are taking money from. Dig in to the private equity firm's details. If you interview, don't fall for the lines about being "Doers of good." They Do Not Care about you or their clients. If you choose to take the job anyway, make sure you definitely have an emergency fund. You'll need it when they cut your job. Be aware that any perks they sell you will be cut, made worse, less valuable, or all of the above in the next year.

Pros

None. Unless you enjoy chaos and watching your coworkers disappear every 90 days.

Cons

Working here was the most chaotic, disorganized, and soul-sucking experience of my entire career. Rotating managers and team members made it impossible to build any momentum, and every 90 days like clockwork, someone would be let go without explanation, not even during official layoffs. It’s exhausting, dehumanizing, and completely unethical. The CEO hides behind hollow statements, refusing to acknowledge or fix the nightmare culture he created. If you're thinking of applying here, BEWARE, this place eats its own and treats you like the enemy from day one.
