Though located in Boulder, you wont make enough to live here. The base pay is very low, even compared to the surrounding areas. They went through 2 market adjustments recently and are still not close to the average pay rate in the area. You will want to make sure you have another job or source of income for rent, as they just keep climbing. It's currently around 1500 on the low side (end of 2021). The foothills lab is very top heavy with many managers. Unlike other areas the workload is usually shifted downward with the bench workers doing a bit more work that is usually managerial. It is a smaller lab and doesn't have a large staff, but larger than a small location and has a heavier workload. These things combine to create a work environment that is busier than other labs I've worked in. There are definitely some work politics/dynamics/social situations I'm gradually becoming aware of. I would say that most people are not satisfied working here. It might take you time to realize it, and I wont say too much here. If you decide to work here, just be careful of who you get close to and what you say to people. That is how I stayed under the radar. Still uncomfortable though.
