Pros

More vacation time than you know what to do with and good health insurance.

Cons

The entire organization needs to be reworked from the top down. Lack of structure, national team doesn't listen to chapters and rules with more of an iron fist when they don't always know our demographics. Felt like our chapter would take two step forward and ten back all the time. Employees are overworked and under appreciated. Lack of development knowledge in chapters especially when it comes to the ED and some of the mangers. I managed a walk when I was the coordinate and the manager knew nothing about the logistics or anything that had to do with the walk besides the "call" list. (Not everyone wants to be called and solicited the entire walk season- fyi). Sad to have to leave an organization that is so close to my heart but it really feels like no one cares what's going on in the chapters unless you're not making your goals.

Pros

Helping find a cure for type 1 diabetes- getting to know the families and kids and investing in their health and well-being.

Cons

For DSW chapter specifically: Understaffed, severely underpaid for all the work you do and all the hours you put in, horrible management, high turnover, catty staff, no work-life balance, huge lack of respect in the office.

Pros

JDRF supports finding a cure for T1D and working with the volunteers and newly diagnosed families is very rewarding but I don't know where our funds are going these days. Closed between Christmas and New Year.

Cons

No employee loyalty or commitment. No opportunity for career advancement or development. No job security. Reorganizations every 6 months that can pull the rug from under you. JDRF doesn't support the values they promote. The latest claim to company progress is a relaxed dress code policy and flexible summer hours. Seriously? With all that is not right this is the best management can come up with? Work life balance for chapter staff is non-existent with the push to raise more and more money. The pressure is unbelievable.
