Demotivating workplace, retention problem
Pros
As many other reviews say, pipeline is good and most co-workers are great and understanding. Big company, so you can move around to explore different things. Devens is a good site and I approve of the Devens site head.
Cons
I’ve had a very demotivating 2017 at BMS. - No upward mobility for associate scientists. We are stuck in the lab forever - we don’t get to go to conferences and meetings - exploring other opportunities are looked down upon - the entire thing about “collaboration” is a farce. Some managers in my department tell their groups not to share data. - no opportunity to present work to senior leadership team. - lots of talented people leaving - they care too much about the money but they don’t know where to invest (some departments) - hostile work environment to women. I’ve been subject to several sexist remarks by male colleagues. - retaliation against employees who want to move within the company. - Incompetent HR. - they treat contractors like dirt.
