I consider myself pretty seasoned in the property management industry and usually stay with a company 3 to 5 years. I was excited when I got hired for a position at Brookfield. They seemed like a solid company and the pay was great. The first day I was swept off my feet with gifts and a lot of nice perks. Little did I know I would receive pretty much receive zero direction and be pretty much thrown to the wolves. The regional was a nice person but did not seem to recognize that in person training should be done unless I asked and that was limited to an hour or less. Within 3 days I was asked to assist with performance reviews and do financial reports that were never shown to me. It all went downhill from there. It was a complete sink or swim mentality. I was emailed about things I was clueless about and expectations to complete tasks I had never done. The online training wasn't super helpful as it wasn't on site or consistent. The expectation to learn about 15 types of programs in days while managing a staff was insane. This was the most unprofessional experience I've ever had in property management. Leaving the position was the only option.
