Pros

The compensation is competitive; there is a good work/ life balance. Staff employees are friendly helpful and supportive, really a great group of people to work with. Flexible hours

Cons

Upper management seems to have no sense of direction for the company and no clear cut goals for the accounting department or the company as a whole. New systems are introduced and put into effect without proper training. Promotions are giving to who you know and not what you know Management shorts bonus every year regardless of your annual review Too many college graduates were hired in accounting, no experience and retained knowledge in accounting Some people are inappropriate at work and HR does nothing about it, loud singing, loud music, grade school perks (hiding chairs, trashing cubes, hiding spoiled food in cube) Dress code needs to be enforced, short dresses & skirts, low cut blouses, leggings are all wore daily Most managers play the blame game and point fingers Training is lacking or non-existent VERY high turnover, in a group of 20 people, 11 left in a years time.

Pros

Office is nice, location is nice too

Cons

- Just like all the other comments, office politics are no joke. VPs don’t leave which make it hard for advancement. Retail is dying industry and many upper level management positions are at end of their career and have no interest in leaving. - Again, office politics are no joke. Gossip, good ole boys mentality, if you’re not on the right side with the right people then good luck trying to make it very far. - Company has ZERO flexibility on WFH. This is a very outdated approach and company has proven they don’t really have a lot of regard for their employee happiness / work like balance. I think this has been the straw that has broken the camels back (along with many other things) as company has seen A LOT of turnover of good talent. Mind you this company is retail, focused on malls which is obviously struggling industry. - Pay is average. Bonus is average. Management is toxic, gossipy etc.

Pros

Interesting work Experienced coworkers Solid core business

Cons

While the majority of office workers in the US have been given the option to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Brookfield has required all employees to return to a full-capacity office M-F.
