Pros

No problems with GGP as a whole. They are a great company with great benefits.

Cons

Since GGP is a huge entity, with multiple locations, I can only speak of one particular location I worked. I have been through two separate management teams at his location. These negative remarks refer to the latest group... The office dwellers are cliquish. The have little to no real life or work experiences that would have qualified them for the positions they hold. They have no idea that malls are a thing of the past, and are slowly dying. As someone with a military background understanding the team concept, I can tell you they have re-defined "team" from WE to ME. There is no team work, no leadership, and no communication. They have also turned the once great environment into a toxic, almost hostile, place to work. Anyone outside the office is second class to them. Field workers are expected to perform duties with little to no resources. I understand budgets are a huge factor, but I still fail to understand how remodeling the offices (which didn't need to be) takes propriety over tools, safety equipment, and repairs needed to fix failing and potentially dangerous conditions around the property.

Pros

Some nice perks and programs/events for employees. Very beautiful buildings with great amenities. I enjoyed working alongside my colleagues.

Cons

I decided to leave Brookfield after numerous discriminatory interactions with my supervisor. One of the VP/Creative Director's is very ego-driven, picking favorites, tons microaggressions, and withholding promotions/compensation discrimination. I didn't anticipate being so impacted by his toxic behavior, as he works solely remote. He's very immature and honestly has no business leading a team. He's made racist and inappropriate comments to myself and colleagues. He get's upset if he's not the center of the praise or shows signs of jealously when other colleagues get recognition. In over 10 years of working in my industry, I'd never had a work related panic attack until I worked here. Communication and expectations lack consistency. They need a project manager to aid in project delegation. There's been times that key decision makers in a project took leave back to back in the middle of a large project. Their lack of communication regarding the change in their schedules and project urgency, resulted in me being met with very passive aggressive interactions. Individual leader does not match the progressive nature that the overall company presents and is trying to achieve. I would not recommend joining the team if you're BIPOC. There should be more cohesion with the Design & Marketing teams and their processes. I would've had a pretty decent experience and wouldn't have left the company if he wasn't in his role. It's a pretty chill role, there's no reason to experience that much discrimination and toxicity. Fortunately, there are many other companies with more up-to-date practices and better leadership and pay compensation.
