Pros

Fast pasted ED-Level 1 Trauma Center. Great experience and increases skill level and knowledge. Nice to work with Physicians and Residents that allow certain levels of autonomy depending on your experience and skill level.

Cons

Management has been a constant problem for greater than 10 years. The overturn is continuous. Most of the management hired has no physical or clinical experience in actually “working” in this ED. Management seems to be more focused on enforcing employee rules, unrelated “clinical” policies, but rather basic trivial employee policies, focus on irrelevant issues rather than assisting staff when Help is need, acuity becomes higher, or when there are short staffing issues, which is a constant and continuous problem!

Pros

Dedicated direct practice staff. Decent salary for RI.

Cons

Middle and upper management are out of touch with daily concerns. Make decisions based on money, rather than taking a patient-centered approach. Employees who are not truly essential feel bullied to take personal risks when the hospital refuses to close outpatient services in severe weather conditions, when other are hospitals decide to be safe first. Lately, it appears that management is taking the view that if you are not “active” every minute, then it must mean you are slacking and need to be assigned more.
