Pros

Bsquare UK employes an excellent engineering team who are fun, passionate, highly skilled and love technology. The work is highly varied working on 3-6 month projects in anything from embedded software on Linux, QNX, Android, Windows and others to developing applications and Internet services.

Cons

The location is terrible, they need to open a Bristol or Bath office to get the best local talent. Training is very much on the job, it's rare the get an opportunity to really explore different solutions or emerging technologies. Management are in the US and getting them to agree to anything takes an age! This can get quite stressful at times and often your working at the seat of your pants. Marketing and management love buz words, but rarely truly understand their meaning or implications. They need to do more marketing and exploratory research to explore the best solution rather than going full steam straight off the bat.

Pros

Can be a tight community when employees stay long enough to get to know each other. Interesting projects, small groups work well together when a strong PM is present which are somewhat rare. Some great people working there, but there is a flood of people leaving so they may not be there for long.

Cons

The wall between upper management and the rest of the company is ridiculous. Employees are really just numbers on a spread sheet and considered expendable. It's all about billing. You don't bill you aren't considered valuable. The execs are cheap and refuse to treat their employees like they are valued. Raises are absurd (1%-2% if you're lucky) Technologically they are behind the curve now and when I was last there they were trying to play catch up in markets that they can't get a foot hold into.
