Strange company politics…

Pros

Working in the store is a blast. If you enjoy fashion and personalities it’s a great time. The discount and benefits are good for a retail job and there is room for growth if you are reliable.

Cons

Working in admin is much different. Speaking from my own personal experience, I felt actually stunted from growth within the company while working here. Usually an assistant role leads somewhere, but assistants here are a dead end. They do not build you up to do anything more and avoid strengthening your management or responsibilities. There was little to no understanding or acknowledgement of emotions, life outside of work, or personality. Most days I wondered if anyone actually liked each other and questioned why they were with this company. It was a head trip because of the amount of social pressure they put on their family company values. A disfunctional family. Don’t show them a side of you that could possibly be judged- because they will do so. It felt so detached from what they build you up to believe in the store level. Strange company politics that praise people for being submissive. Extremely adverse to change and opinions. The sustainability and diversity doesn’t go much further than their marketing and is rarely, if not ever, discussed at a higher level. Complicated and unclear policies that are hidden beneath 10+ different handbooks.

okay for what it is: retail

Pros

more entertaining that other retail jobs, getting to work with clothes, 30% employee discount on clothing, first pick of items that come in

Cons

low pay, monthly staff meetings where you have to go over company profits, managers that do not work as hard as lower level employees, generally cliquey/catty work environment, you will be judged for what you wear to work and you will feel constantly sized up, this is a very white organization

Pros

Cool clothes. AMAZING associates who will be your friends for life

Cons

HR is protective of bad managers. The managers I was under broke safety COVID policies and they didn’t care. All associates felt they couldn’t work because of how unsafe it was and asked for accountability and change. They even asked workers to work even though they were in contact with COVID. HR is racist and doesn’t believe BIPOC are impacted by COVID despite CDC data and refers to Black People as “the blacks”. They also took away our health insurance when we asked for change/accountability and felt we couldn’t work under current conditions.
