Pros

Uhh..lets see...the only pros about working here are a queer friendly atmosphere(bare minimum), not having to wear uniform, working with fashion, and (if you're lucky) having funny coworkers. -_-

Cons

AII LETS GET INTO IT THENNN:). So overall working at Buffalo Exchange CHELSEA issa high demand low reward type of scenario. Not only are you stretching out a biweekly paycheck (bc who cares about YOUR bills) you also have to deal with a surge of different workloads in a very disorganized atmosphere. As a former employee I can let you know that working at the dressing room is pure chaos on earth-not only do you have A MAXIMUM of two people to combat high volumes of customers with ample clothes it is one of the most important roles you can be assigned because you're the face of loss prevention. Moving on, the work atmosphere gets very ghetto...yeah...with examples like a manager on the clock calling my outfit TERRORIST inspired as "a joke", and other managers rummaging through employee personal bags during business hours without consent or warning. At this point if you're still thinking about working here you freaky asf but also...consider the following: lack of managerial accountability, very very VERY small break room, EXTREMELY strict attendance (the average employee gets fired after 3 tardies OR 3 absences per month), outdated POS system that constantly glitches and puts cashiers at risk, and more times than not contesting for your break time because of disorganized scheduling (which btw gets done on the same day). To conclude my fellow proletariats, this company tries to be woke but overdoses on melatonin. If you want your efforts completely overlooked and an excruciatingly slow career climb then definitely apply :D! Oh yeah...>-> they also have this collection of clothes that gets shipped in bulk(and I mean BULK) called "New Merch" which essentially aims to replicate fast fashion trends. So to put it simply- self-proclaimed sustainable company rolls out fast fashion and hides it among second hand clothes.

Pros

Benefits, good friends, clothing discount, lots to learn

Cons

Upper management looks down on store employees and treats them as disposable, promotes a culture of harassment and bullying with no consequence, plays favoritism, too high of expectation for store employees at too low of a pay rate, no holiday pay, green washes

Pros

Nice coworkers, positive environment, discounts.

Cons

Part of the position of being a clothing buyer at buffalo exchange is "shopping" weekly. This is something I was fine with when I took the job initially, thinking that I would be keeping up with trends, and shopping as regular-- maybe browsing sections i wouldnt usually browse when doing it. However, the management kept pestering me about "shopping" and it became clear that they expected employees to go to the mall weekly and spend "between one and two hours" perusing and asking questions about clothes. When i asked if i will get paid for my time management said "we used to do that, but we don't anymore". They mentioned they can't require me to do it, but they strongly encourage it. As a full time student at the time, it was near impossible to set aside that much time every week to peruse the mall for free. Eventually i was let go from the position because they "didnt think i was enthusaiastic enough about fashion". Code for not complying with their free labor expectation.
