Pros

Great opportunity to move around and experience different areas of the company to find where your best fit is. Rotating around in the company allows you to meet so many people right off the bat, and a holistic view of the company and what each department does. Great for people who might not know right away after college what they want to do--you can find your expertise within the program. They also plan lots of PDP activities for you to get to know your peers and get involved in the community.

Cons

Starting off in the Service Center is hard, but it truly does help you understand the business and prepare you for your remaining rotations--it's a great learning experience! Knowing the timing of rotations can be somewhat frustrating, but it works out in the end! Patience!

Thank you for your feedback, we are very proud of our Professional Development Program and are always looking for ways to improve upon it. The work our Participant Services employees do can be very tough; however, I am glad you recognize how truly critical that work is to our clients and members.

Pros

Great co workers for the most part. Lunch on Wednesday is nice but has been going downhill so the same thing is served week over week.

Cons

It pains me to see the positive reviews on here because they are not an accurate representation of the company as they are written by the owners and/or senior management. The language they use in the reviews are taken right out of corporate documents. They are only trying to combat the negative reviews in a effort to find talent to hire and keep clients since both are leaving the company in droves. It's true that their technology platform is great but they treat their employees so so poorly. Low pay, bad benefits, no job flexibility, zero raises, verbal abuse, and the list goes on. If they treated their employees with respect, that would go a long way! Or provide raises based on merit every year instead of just when a person hands in their 2 weeks. When I started at BSC, I too read the negative reviews and figured I would take them with a grain of salt since there were positive ones too. However, it was no use, here I am writing a negative review. If you are a client reading this, know that your BSC team is very over worked, under paid and will probably be leaving within months. They are fake and will promise you the world but won't be able to deliver on it. If you are a prospective employee, know that there is a very good chance you will be here within a year writing a review too. Be sure to ask for as much as you can upfront because you won't be getting a raise. Also, read all of the documents you receive very carefully. They are being slimy about the things they hide in there. Finally, start building a savings. You may be forced to quit without another job lined up or they may fire you without notice or reason. It happens. However, be comforted in the fact that their reputation is out around town and this NOT GOOD! Other employers will be happy to hire you and completely understand why your stint there was short. Truth is, BSC is finding it hard to keep hiring because there are so many people who have heard how bad it is there.

Pros

Great place to work. Company values achievers that want to grow their careers. I've had opportunities to advance four times in my tenure. Product is solid and we seem to have a wide variety of clients. Management seems approachable and open to ideas and feedback. Client forums have been great to engage clients and get their ideas too. Strong outlook for the company in a rapidly growing market.

Cons

I had heard of some negative reviews on Glassdoor and this was the first time I read them. It's a shame that some people (probably competitors too) use this is a forum to express their frustration. I don't think they're representative of the 600+ of us that work hard to make it a great place. Des Moines is a tough place for a high-tech company. Low unemployment rate and there are large corporations that offer 6 weeks vacation out of the gates.
