Pros
Sometimes a job is better than no job.
Cons
People are sometimes moved into roles for which they are not qualified. Many employees in my experience had little to no professional background, minimal skills, and only were able to make it because of the concerted efforts of *some* managers to bring them up to par or to cover for them. Environment could be very petty and high school-like due to low caliber of some employees, including some managers.
