Outdated and irrelevant.

Pros

Top player in insurance industry and ability to move around the company if you want. Respectable employee benefits. Not a bad place to start a career as I learned a lot (but certainly not a place to grow it... rather, I outgrew it).

Cons

Stiff culture. "Good ole boy" system in leadership. Promotions based on connections and back stabbing rather than good work, with many of leadership just coasting and collecting a pay check rather than working hard. Terrible company to grow a career. does not value the new generation of worker (9-5, in your cubicle mentality). Outdated technology and unwillingness to innovate (in fact, trying to innovate will be punitive to you).

OK but stuffy culture

Pros

Competitive compensation and benefits (other than the insurance, ironically). Work life balance is improving but also highly dependent on the leadership of your team (which can vary significantly even within departments)

Cons

Culture is one in which game-playing is valued more than talent/hard-work. Most people I worked with seemed to lack interest and motivation.

Pros

+Decent Paid Time Off bank +Central location

Cons

-Bureaucratic and impersonal, workforce reductions every 6-12 months remind you that you are nothing but a poorly paid mercenary -Silo'ed to the point of debilitating -Needlessly stressful - culture built on hazing without the financial reward that justifies culture -Many incompetent managers are somehow still around
