Pros

Good salary and benefits. Autonomy to do your job the way you like.

Cons

Technology stuck in 90s. Claim system had DOS screen to it. Really bad. Management is far removed from everyday struggle of field personnel. My immediate supervisor provided no support or help for the job I was doing. Lots of politicking involved, you need to kiss right behinds in this company. The company does not use industry accepted Xactimate program. All claim adjusting is outsourced to independent vendors. Claim adjusters are, basically, just paying whatever vendors write.

Pros

Many areas to move to once into, training on applications are useful internally and for future positions, exposure to different elements in technological side of finance. There are also tons of opportunities for professional development to understand the business and succeed in other areas of the company. Their database of procedures are also helpful in start working.

Cons

Management is not very inclusive: does not make minorities feel included, treats younger employees as robots rather than technological innovators and learners. There was a large divide between young analyst and older managers, with much gossip going on about their own employees. Workload from multiple managers are thrown onto analyst with no solid coordination. Many of the employees of color on the team have either moved to other departments with in the company or left the company altogether, due to bad management. The team is majority Caucasian and managers are not given any sensitivity/diversity training or are aware of the way the treat their employees. Many consultants have come in to have "strength-finder" workshops that contribute nothing to the management or incentives of working (other than food) and disrupt the daily duties of work. Technology is extremely slow and outdated. The applications used have outages frequently and more so than other workplaces.

Pros

Truly feel a sense of collaboration among cross departmental teams to deliver on the organizations goal to be externally focused while offering a superior experience. I experience a drive toward inclusion of all employees and a HR department that works to provide the best work life balance it can offer.

Cons

The organization has been transitioning executive leadership for the past two years and I get a sense will continue to transition in the coming year which can have a paralyzing effect on the workforce in terms of high level focus with enough detail to act upon.
