Pros
As an outside sales rep who consistently surpassed my goals, I was pretty much left alone to do my job. I enjoyed working in this industry and made a lot of contacts. The job was different every day which made it stimulating and exciting.
Cons
Management. I'm talking every level of management. They have people here who have worked here most of their career and have nothing new to bring to the table and we all know that the way we do business today has changed from even 5-years ago. Even when you make well over 100% of your goal, you don't feel valued. They want people who toe-the-line, say the right things and kiss .... I had a manager who I understand has recently left (they say retired-but I know otherwise) who should have been fired along time ago. He was the worst manager I've ever had in over 30 years of working as a sales person in multiple industries. His direct reports knew he was incompetent & chose to close their eyes to it. Employees like myself who have standards, are self-motivated, believe in working hard to achieve but are passionate & yes, sometimes out-spoken about things are considered bad employees. It was never about me, but about bringing the best experience to our customers and contributing to the bottom line for the company. I left CORT unappreciated but proud of myself, because I felt that I deserved better and unlike others in the company, I wasn't afraid to start over even though I was over 50 in a world that wants younger workers especially in sales. I'm happy with my decision to leave. I do hope that CORT makes some needed changes soon because the only employees that remain at CORT are people who are comfortable and complacent with nothing new to offer (mediocre sales & management).
