Pros

There WERE some benefts working for a company with so many states under its belt, but unfortunately the reward for aiding in the company's growth were either an involuntary severance or further ostracism.

Cons

Among the many half-truths, outright deception and misdirection, there's also a lack of leadership ability, inability for concise and precise decision-making, and a heap of over-the-top red tape that makes Federal government processes seem easy. This, compounded with alienation of employees not located at the HQ (ostracizing individuals and ideas not originating from the Ivory Tower) , makes it apparent to every employee that CSAA Inter-Insurance Bureau leadership is more concerned with being deeply entrenched in its self-created internal politics over effective business practices of a successful and coherent company (member-driven or not). In addition, the "collective" leadership mind changes constantly, pouring resources into ESSENTIAL programs from which they will soon cancel or lay off individuals involved in program development, wonder where the money went, and state they will pour resources back into the programs they just reduced the workforce of. It will only be a matter of time for them to come up with a "leadership team" to argue amongst each other to decide what individuals should consist of "teams" who will decide what makeup of a "team" whose purpose is to select a "team" will determine if any "teams" need to be eliminated due to waste.

Pros

It's AAA. They encourage continuing education and they pay for the majority of it. (Trying to come up with 100 words to ensure this review is helpful is hard.)

Cons

PTO is a joke. Give me vacation time and sick time, each accruing on their own. Why do think so many people come to work hacking out their lung? Maybe it's because they don't carry health insurance... the health coverage is a joke as the premiums are astronomical. A once a year merit review is pitiful and if you are finding yourself with a raise, the pay raises are not commensurate with the effort put forth.

Pros

The opportunity to make a difference in the company. This company is in transition both from a business model and cultural perspective. These are not easy things to accomplish. When you choose to participate in such a transition, you need to understand that everything isn't black and white. Transition is change, so the way things are today, may well be different in a month or two months; and it may be different again two months later - that is what transition is all about. If you aren't comfortable with change, you may find it a challenge. If you thrive on change, then you will fit in well.

Cons

One needs to always have patience - it is no different here than elsewhere, the attributes vary, but the net is not unlike other companies. It is a changing environment; that is both an upside and a downside, depending upon what your personal comfort level is. For me, change has always been a part of the environment in which I have worked. If you expect everything to be described, defined, the "i's" dotted, and the "t's" crossed, then you will be dissapointed. If you thrive on the challenge of making things better and fully engaging, overcoming obstacles, and taking personal accountability, then you will find it very interesting.
