Pros

The staff at the subsidiary companies were kind and hardworking people

Cons

Incredibly toxic work environment and “leadership” who pride themselves on tearing people down. They also pull some really shady tactics with their benefits. If you’re thinking of leaving a reputable company to join this hot mess, think twice. It’s a company run by spineless egomaniacal people trying to turnaround failing businesses that very likely are not going to weather the changing retail landscape. It’s laughable that they try to compare themselves to Berkshire Hathaway and pretend that they’re a super elite company.

Thank you for your feedback. We're dedicated to our mission of saving retail. In just four years, we’ve acquired and turned around several brands to get to a $500M run rate. We’ve also saved over 1,000 jobs, several companies from liquidation, and have over one million happy customers and counting. We take pride in our culture of making an impact and driving results but realize building/re-building companies can be demanding. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly if you're open to it.

Pros

Freedom to work from home.

Cons

While the freedom to work from home is pretty great, due to lack of experience in management, this leaves people and teams working in isolated silos, not achieving potential due to lack of guidance. You'll learn very quickly the status quo at CSC Generation, but to offer a flavor, here's my timeline: - Month 1: Left to scramble for results to demonstrate worth - killed it! - Month 3: Achieved best results for portfolio brands in decades - Month 6: Launch new brand, consistent outstanding performance and feedback - Month 8: Promoted to oversee additional department - Month 8: CEO praises initiative in new department in company-wide email - Month 9: Deliver great results through adversity with new brand, launch store - Month 10: CEO praises most credible results the company has seen, while overseeing new department Month 11: Laid off as not spending enough time on original role I love a challenge. I love independent working as well as collaboration. I love problem solving. I love taking initiative to deliver on business objectives. But this place is truly an insane place to work. No guidance, feedback, help - watching people and teams being fired almost daily. You'll see comments on here regarding company growth - don't believe it! Acquiring companies, then laying off most employees is not true or organic growth.

We are truly sorry that we had to part ways. Please understand however, that we tried our best to help you land your next role. In addition to providing a severance, we also highlighted your positive attributes when your new employer back-channeled us about your performance (despite the fact that you were not "killing it" as you mention). Regardless, we are pleased that you have found another position.

Pros

Flexible work, can work remote if need be, create your own workflow, ability to make an impact early on, large levels of autonomy, learn LOTS by working cross functionally

Cons

As with any start up there are growing pains, strategies change, projects get killed, this is not the place for you if you want a 9-5 with certainty of day to day workflow
