Safe job, not like other call centers
Pros
The people are AWESOME. If you're into anything in the geekdom, you'll be in good company. Doctor Who, Magic, gaming, etc. As long as you don't do anything stupid and make any corrections your supervisor tells you to, you'll do fine and a majority of the supervisors will definitely try to help you to hit your metrics. This is about as safe a job as you can get in this industry with reasonable pay.
Cons
While it's not like a normal call center, it's still a call center. High queues, call metrics that make you stress, high turnover, heavily mundane and repetitive calls. If you're looking for advancement, this is not the place to go. There are 5 floor positions: trainee, specialist 1, specialist 2, senior, and lead. Transition from trainee to specialist 1 is about 6 months, specialist 2 at just over a year (basically, a new skillset, new title). The metrics for senior are near impossible (literally 1% out of the entire floor). Lead tech or higher is a high school popularity contest (like all other positions within this company) and every eligible person will apply once a new position opens. Trainees start at $13/hour and get two 50¢ increases when going to specialist 1, then 2. That's the effective ceiling for a huge majority of the floor. If you promote - to any higher position than that - you will only get a small percentage increase, no matter the position to save the company money (in the past few months they removed set dollar salary minimums). Also, in order to promote to any higher position you must be at specialist 2.
