Pros

Strange company. CEO allowed a young inexperienced buffoon to manage finance. You always feel as if people dont accept you in the environment. Many inept VP's making a lot of money and are allowed to stay because they fit in the 'old school network'. sorry to be so honest and tell the real truth but stay away from this place.

Cons

Too many to list here. Strange place. Do not work here.

Pros

Outstanding job security in the corporate office. Senior management is approachable via their Open Door Policy. They recently dismissed a VP that was not effective at delivering positive results. One of the only companies left that supports a fully funded pension program that is sustainably managed.

Cons

Below median salaries, and small annual raises. They cut the 401K match down to a noncompetitive 1% of pay. Projects tend to be deployed before the technology or training material is available. The Operations group somehow frequently manages to dodge the responsibility for training or documentation for their projects, and place the job at the feet of the Technology teams that made their projects possible. As a result, quality Technology employees have left in droves, and there are many more waiting in the wings to get out. The internal website has a suggestion and ideas area that is posted to frequently by entry-level staff. There is zero executive presence or ownership. Posting an idea virtually ensures it will never be implemented. Cableone is squandering a valuable resource here.

Pros

The senior executives at the company are incredibly approachable, and you can have a conversation with any of them at any time about anything at all, and they'll always make time to hear your perspective, no matter who you are. This goes double for the CEO, who you'd never know is the CEO from a casual conversation. Overall, a company that prides itself on making sure the people working there are happy, and goes to great (sometimes too great) lengths to ensure that everything possible has been done before considering terminating somebody.

Cons

The desirability and enjoyment in the culture of the technology group has fallen in recent years, driven by lack of clarity in project prioritization, some problematic management, and rapid growth in recent years. Though some changes have been made recently that look like they may improve things, it won't be overnight. Also, pay is average to slightly below average - job security is outstanding, so that has value as well - but if you're looking for a huge paycheck, you won't find it here.
