I don’t know where to start. I left my job here after about seven months for another preschool. The management is terrible. Like, really, really bad. Before starting here I’d worked several different jobs in different fields and have never come across a more unprofessional environment. To start, I was never trained. They hired me and right off the bat I was put into a classroom - the teacher in this classroom had put in her two weeks the same day I began working, so not a great first impression. Despite being scheduled for 9 hours each day, I can probably count on two hands the number of times I got my full break. Most of the time it was either cut to a half hour or I was forced to skip altogether. There was more than one day where the entire staff was told we would not be getting any breaks at all. On top of that, pages for bathroom breaks would go unanswered most of the time. You’d page for assistance and get no response. Page again, no response. Repeat for hours (literally). Finally you’d have to flag a management member down in the hallway and you were always treated like you were majorly inconveniencing them by running to the bathroom before you peed your pants. Over-ratio calls were also ignored. My class had almost 30 kids (with two teachers) one morning and it took half an hour to even get in contact with the front desk to ask for assistance. This wasn’t a once-in-a-while situation, it happened daily. On the rare occasion the assistant director actually answered her phone, she often answered while clearly eating food and tell me she couldn’t help before hanging up on me. Managers would often treat themselves to take-out in their office while the rest of us had our breaks slashed. I can’t tell you the number of times I flagged another teacher down in the hallway so I could use the bathroom after paging for hours only to walk by the office and see every director hanging out in there eating pizza or Chinese food while the rest of us didn’t get to eat for 9 hours because we were “understaffed and couldn’t do breaks”. Teachers were often berated at staff meetings for having “attitude problems” simply because we tried to express our frustrations. To top all this off, after finally leaving this place for good I looked into all my financials for the months I was there - they were stiffing me on my pay. As I said before, I was scheduled for 45 hours a week before breaks. Because I rarely got a full break or any break at all, I was working around 43 hours a week - I also had to stay late almost every day to close down my classroom. They were paying me for less than 40 hours a week. Someone was going into my timesheet and putting in that I’d take hour long breaks every day and remove any overtime I’d worked each day. I don’t know how I didn’t notice this while I was working there. Save yourself a hassle and don’t work here.
