Morally reprehensible!

Pros

Good money if you can deceive & lie to tourists that got suckered into wasting 5 hours of their vacation time.

Cons

You are trying to sell something for $20K that anyone can buy on eBay for $1! Another con - having to look at yourself in the mirror after taking the life savings from an elderly couple.

Pros

I have never experienced any incidents of "power trips" or egotism at this casino. Upper management and human resources department treat employee's really good. After 6 months of employment they allow you to transfer to a different property. There are opportunities to reach promotions at this casino. This casino is very beautiful.

Cons

The toke rate is $9-$11 / hour. Maryland Live Casino is 10 minutes away and they are getting most of the business in Maryland. The casino is in a rough neighborhood and it discourages high limit players from wanting to gamble here. Very "undesirable" clientele. Only 2 flooring days per week because they have so many dual rates. A lot of dead games. EDR (Lunch room) is hit or miss. $3 per plate. There have been some "incidents" pertaining to cooks not washing their hands in the bathroom.

Pros

Because of an extremely high attrition rate (con) , there is always a chance to move up (sadly, pro) There are also lots of lateral moves to make if you find you are unhappy in your department. There are many properties within the company which is a benefit if you ever plan on moving far away. There is a 401k (pro) but they only match up to a few hundred per year (con). There is paid time off (pro) but in the largest departments they are very poor at scheduling accurately (con) so even on days that have dozens of extra people you cannot actually get the time off (con) but sometimes you can get to work and they'll just ask you if you want to go home right away with zero hours work (not pro or con - just sloppy, stupid, and not very considerate) There are points called reward points that can be accumulated through the entire property doing well or you personally getting noticed for something. In a department of 20 people they work great. In a different department of 300 or 500 people they are basically useless at an individual level. If the property does succeed overall in any given quarter or year though there are lots of delightful prizes you can choose or let your points accumulate and score some really big great prizes. The people you work with in your own department at your own level are frequently a joy to work with (pro)

Cons

There is no work-life balance. At least at the start expect to work (in almost any department other than HR) every holiday and mostly weekends as it is the busiest time. It does not matter if your child is sick, you yourself are graduating college, you were in a car accident on the way to work or it's just sunny out and you don't want to come to work. They are so worried about being fair and equal that they are everything but considerate. You accumulate points towards getting fired at DOUBLE the regular daily rate if you are scheduled to work and do not show up but you do not get any extra pay - just your regular hourly wage. You also can only lose those points by time passing. If asked to stay over and you do, you can expect a thank you and a miniscule amount of reward credits. (See pros for explanation of reward credits) If you volunteer for overtime on a day they feel they need extra people you also do not get points removed. It's very one sided. Double trouble for high business days but no extra rewards. If you are in table games department you even have more days than other departments to which these rules apply. The customers satisfaction is valued way over the employees needs, feelings, or legitimate complaints. If you cross a person who plays more money in 15 minutes than you make in 5 years you can assume that anything they feel will be taken as fact even if security tape could back you up as correct. If however you are accused of anything even minor and are asked to sign an acknowledgement, you will not be able to have the security tape as your defense as they will not show it to you. Yes, they have been acknowledged as a Best Place to Work in Indiana but if you go to the website you'll find not all companies are considered, only those who are nominated or nominate themselves, and those companies willing to PAY to be evaluated for the title.
