Pros

CALSTART's mission matters and thanks to dedicated staff, the community of superb members, and powerful connections throughout North America, it is an impactful and purposeful organization. CALSTART has a unique ability to advance the market through its excellent staff and close collaboration with industry through the membership program. Employees are purpose driven and stay there because of their belief in the mission, the great people, and an earnest desire to build a sustainable, zero-emission transportation future. Some of the best people I've met in my career are from my rich days at CALSTART.

Cons

CALSTART is hiring but also has a large number of people leaving. The CEO has been at CALSTART for more than 30 years. The organization needs fresh new ideas at the top.

Pros

Involvement with green technology in transportation, fuels, vehicles, etc.

Cons

The management is poor, paid way too much for what they do. Agree with other reviews about bad management, HR, etc. Retaliation has been major problem. Probably why company survey was discontinued. Most good people work at remote offices, stay out of sight and keep heads down.

Pros

a lot of non-exec people are nice working remote is helpful for work/life balance

Cons

They laid me off with a bunch of other people after this long, strange stretch of time where they seemed to be plotting how they could cull the herd. A guy came in who had no apparent marketing experience to run the marketing department and axed me and several coworkers. Ok bro hope it's been fun for you since. Great way for you to learn on the job. The place is full of odd, toxic stuff like that. It's too bad because the company has the potential to be a real leader in the sustainability field if it had competent leadership.
