Pros

Your content is Disney, so it’s exciting to work with.

Cons

Lesson learned: if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck…it’s a duck. No matter how much I tried to convince myself (or how much they tried to convince me) that it was a dream job, it was in fact more toxic than any job I’ve ever had. Whatever job you choose to take here working for Disney Food Blog and AllEars; your time is underpaid and undervalued. Writers, photographers, reporters, everyone. The pay is beyond disrespectful, but they’ll tell you pay increases are coming. That never happens, even if you’re always putting out great content, taking on more roles, and hitting your goals (or even going beyond the goals set for you). You’ll see quickly that those who work the hardest and do the best will get hounded with even more work. To the point where their best employees are breaking mentally. But they won’t pull back expectations. And let’s talk about time. You’ll be expected to work overtime on the fly, due to the insane amount of content they expect you to provide. It doesn’t matter what plans you have for the day, or what’s going on in your personal life. So…with the expectation for employees to sacrifice their personal time with NO notice, you’d expect to get time off approved (with notice provided)…right?! Absolutely not. Holidays, birthdays, huge events — no time is guaranteed off. Even when you give them months of notice. They’ll guilt and berate you for requesting time off. So while you’re expected to work overtime on the fly, there’s ZERO flexibility when it comes to you needing time off. Managers are obviously being given strict requirements from upper management. But no one cares when a mass exodus occurs; which happens all the time. Literally, the writing and reporting staff is unrecognizable. They don’t care about you. They know they’ll pull in more unsuspecting, hopeful fans, work them into the ground, and repeat the cycle. And while these fans are making the blogs a ton of money, they’ll make FAR LESS than anyone else in the industry. You’ll get paid more at many fast food joints. The day I drove past a Chick-fil-A sign that said $19/hour was their starting rate and I was JEALOUS, I knew something was wrong. Please reconsider working here. At best, you’ll be overworked, stressed out, leave, and lose any respect you had for these blogs/owners. At worst, your mental health will take a blow, your lack of a work/life balance will result in issues in your life, and you’ll be running for the hills only months in.

The Worst Place I've Ever Worked

Pros

Aside from leadership, some incredible people work here. Many employees are the most hard-working, kind people you will ever meet.

Cons

Where do I even begin. Cambrick Yard is the company behind popular Disney blogs AllEars and DisneyFoodBlog. As other reviews have mentioned, it's not rare to experience a toxic work environment. However, your time here will go above and beyond that. Employees are expected to check in on Slack and WhatsApp 24/7, even during their off hours. Lunch breaks and a typical 40-hour work week are not what you will get here (and don't even think about potentially getting holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas off). Instead, be prepared to be told repeatedly that you are at a dream job that others would kill for, a line that the management team will repeatedly use to gaslight you into staying and accepting the abysmal working conditions. The owners will repeatedly tell you that having a work-life balance is a myth that lazy people perpetuate and that they need a dedicated team. For this reason, the company has a turnover rate that is unlike anything you will ever see -- in the past year alone, the company team has become unrecognizable. Public humiliation is another trait of management that you should prepare for. Any little mistake won't just be a private conversation but will be played out over Slack or WhatsApp so that everyone on the team knows what you've done. The owners thrive on being mean to people. Even employees who they publically love will get belittled behind their backs by management. Their main focus is on putting out the public message that this is a great place to work and that their team all loves each other. But, this is all manufactured and carefully put into place as the public messaging. The truth is that the company runs on fear, with behavior that has caused lasting trauma to MANY past employees. It's because of them, and my own past experience that I urge you to reconsider working here. No matter what opportunities they promise you, it's nothing that will make up for the late nights and time missed with your family and friends simply because a review of a cupcake must get up THAT second.

Felt used and drained

Pros

Not many to think of. The taste of working here was left so sour that it is not easy to think of many pros.

Cons

If you are interested in feeling used as a pawn in the content creation world, this is the place for you. Cambrick yard represents Disney Food Blog and AllEars.net in the Disney Blogging world and also represents much of what is wrong in this industry. They hire reporters, writers and content creators for practically minimum wage while promising growth and all sorts of “possibilities.” These possibilities practically never come though unless you are one of the few “favorites” on the team. They will work you directly into the ground and use you for as much content as you can give them before dropping you when you ask for even a dollar or two raise. Beware of the False promises or empty promises that simply never come. They’ll tell you that you will get salary and benefits, they’ll tell you that you can learn different skills on the team but in the end, they just want you to work endlessly for Pennies to the dollar and be grateful for it. There are so many other better blogs and companies to work for in this industry and it is not what it seems. No amount of “pretty Instagram photos” should convince a soul to ever work for this company. Management is also horrible and may try to be nice to you at the beginning before publicly shaming you if you even mess up a small amount. Treat people with more respect and perhaps the turnover rate here wouldn’t be so high. I don’t suggest working here to nearly anybody.
