Pros

- Young environment: majority of the employees are recent college graduates (because they know they can pay you absolutely nothing and you'll still accept the offer, and the CEO is very cheap and doesn't value his employees) - Occasional work perks like free meals and an incentive trip every Spring

Cons

- NO HR DEPARTMENT (this should already be the biggest red flag) - Managers and Directors are expected to write good reviews when the overall rating goes down From the get go, this Company lies to you and says that their interview process is very complex, and competitive. Carahsoft will accept absolutely anyone who demonstrates some level of intellect, and willingness to learn regardless of having a College Degree. The reason behind this is that they 100% need you due to the extremely high turnover rate. Unfortunately, they take advantage of the young professionals who interview here because they know you are cheap, and they know you will last a MAXIMUM of 2 years, so they don't care to invest in you. The take pride on their "intensive and effective Training Program" when in fact, the training program is non existent, and a complete waste of time. You know its terrible when the leaders of your team are the ones training you and not a designated Training team. The team leads do a terrible job at teaching their Sales Reps how to properly manage a pipeline, and then get frustrated when new hires do something "wrong". A huge component of "training" consists of cold calling, which new hires get to do for the first 4 weeks. Why? Because it is a time filler, and they have no clue how and what to teach you. Your time will be wasted as will your managers'. As far as the job itself, the hours are typically 8:30 - 5:30 (this depends on which team you are on), and a 1 hour lunch (which will be monitored very closely by your managers). Your job will consist of cold calling into different territories, processing orders, and a bunch of other things that your managers don't care about (but they still expect you to do). The only thing they care about is finding leads. If you cannot do this, you will be under-appreciated (more so than you already are). During busy season, you will be expected to work 12 hours shifts, and weekends as well. During this time, the company will think of some corny theme and make it all into one huge game. They will award you disappointing prizes for hitting certain metric goals throughout the season. This company is SO CHEAP that they refuse to pay its employees more during this busy time. At the end of the season, You will see a slight increase in your paycheck, rewarding you for all your dedication, but it is far less than you deserve and is WAY less than what any other Sales company out there would offer. Your managers will not listen to you, because they truly do not care since all that they care about are your metrics. They will take advantage of you, and you will be extremely underpaid. I can promise that you WILL be living paycheck to paycheck if you decide to live on your own in the NoVa area. The overall young/ fun environment, and the little perks here and there are nice, but this is all this company has to offer. DO NOT let your career start off at a place like this. If you're a recent college graduate please do better for yourself, because you will not be able to grow at all at this company. No matter what, you will be treated like garbage, and you will always be inferior to your managers.

Pros

2 hour lunch breaks Get to come in at 9 but be prepared for no parking. Co-workers are amazing

Cons

-The owner acts like a tyrant -Craig (the owner) acts like the phone nazi police along with the team leads -If a team lead decides they don’t like you be prepared., they’ll bully you into quitting and treat you like garbage. - they have no HR - depending on your team taking vacations is a luxury you have to fight for. They’re so stingy about vacation time it’s actualy ridiculous. - their pay sucks you barely crack 45K after bonuses and they’ll lie to you and say your bonus is based on performance and that’s not true. It’s based on how long you’ve worked there. -all the negative reviews are actually true the work here isn’t hard at all a 4th grader could do it. You just make 100 calls a day and build pricing and that’s really it. Most of the time you’re just trying not to fall asleep. -the management there have only become managers because they either stuck around long enough or one of the other team leads liked them enough and gave them a promotion. There’s no room for growth or development here. At most it’s a resume filler but that’s it. There’s people that have been there 12+ years and at most they’re just what most companies would call a supervisor. -their turnover rate speaks for itself -don’t fall into the hype of it being a 5 billion dollar company because they make only 1/5 in margin. -you get a yearly trip that costs 600/person and the owner does it majority to write it off on his taxes, that’s the same with happy hours. -the trainings are so redundant and useless.

Pros

Great place to make friends if you're new to the area, and you'll learn a ton about the technology industry and marketing. You'll be able to get something great when you move on because of the learning experience.

Cons

Literally everything else. Pay is absolutely abysmal, and the raises and bonuses are a joke. When you ask for more money and come in with facts and figures about the rate for the area and the industry, it's suggested that you find a second job to supplement your income, or "we'll see what we can do" and then they do nothing. Management is clueless. For most of them, this is their first real company so they just moved their way up by default of not having quit at the 1-2 year mark like everyone else. You'll work under ridiculous standards because they are constantly understaffed. Expect to work constant (unpaid) overtime, and be told that you should be grateful to even have a job. Employees are asked to write fake reviews - so believe me when I say that anything that comes off as positive or "everyone else is just whining" is a fake review that someone was bribed to write. Sexism is everywhere. The sales teams are 90% men, and marketing is 90% women. Marketing members are treated like the secretaries and caterers of the company and get paid half as much as sales. Carahsoft also does the work for their vendors in both sales and marketing. So the business model is that the vendor counterparts can work 9-5, go home early, and Carahsofters will work early mornings, late nights, and weekends because we can't say no.
