Pros

My supervisor was very helpful, friendly, and taught me a lot. She was open to meet whenever and assisted you with your training.

Cons

Due to state cuts, my salary had to be cut twice. This isn't at fault of COFK but it made it a lot harder on the company at the time and quite a few therapists and to leave. I didn't feel comfortable;e with the way I was assigned patients because I was never asked. It is a home health company, so sometimes I would be given patients that are an hour apart in distance from each other, and in the end I just lost money because of that. If I had been asked, I would have requested patients that were closer together.

Pros

There are a few wonderful people working there. The team overall is careful not to micromanage. They are usually supportive and give therapists a lot of chances. They try to have a few events in spite of a tight budget. They have monthly meetings to communicate the changes that might be confusing.

Cons

This company is disorganized at the top and understaffed in the office. As a result, Care Options expects therapists to do way more than is clinically ethical. Currently authorizations take long enough for the 90-day period allowed for evaluations to expire, adding stress to the therapist as the service liaison with families. The pay is about average for the industry right now, but you will be expected to do a lot more, so prepare for an intense time investment. You have very basic benefits with no matching, affordable health coverage, or reimbursement for gas like in a lot of other agencies. The visit notes alone take over ten minutes to complete and it is not uncommon for them to be deleted by mistake and payroll delayed. From what I understand, this company was full of technology glitches and disorganization years ago when I joined and unfortunately continues to be so. The worst example, W2s for 2016 were compromised for the entire company and a scammer submitted every employee's tax return. I understand these things happen, but I was not surprised they happened with Care Options.

Pros

COFK is great for flexibility; however the micromanaging is a bit over the top. They are constantly checking your schedule and dropping admits, evals, screenings and drive by visits at any available time openings.

Cons

Micromanaging, suggestions to add more severe ratings to evaluations, no work life balance consideration, unethical behavior recommendation from top down, leadership team is drill sergeant style, lack of community connection, physician offices complain about marketer and low referral rates. Supervisors expect 8-10 re-evaluations a week all over the city and surrounding areas. No training no support

Texas Medicaid consist of many rules which can be perceived as "micromanaging". Home Health in Texas is a highly regulated environment. Following the rules and laws to ensure compliance will always be a top focus of COFK. Survey results from Texas DADS was perfect in the fall of 2014 with no survey violations of state standards or deficiencies, a rare occurrance for the size of organization COFK is. Unethical behavior is never tolerated. 90.1% of all employees of COFK in a recent survey trust their management and leadership of COFK. Overall, employees rank the culture and ethical behavior at levels to exceed 90%. COFK uses extensive protocols, sufficient assessments and original assessments. Finally, COFK offers a full scale transparent HIPAA compliant IT tool with electronic patient records and tools for therapist and the use of paper is not required due to extensive capabilities of the COFK COMPASS/SHAREPOINT Clinical program. Recommendations from surveys and employee "stay interviews with existing employees" do not reflect the nature of this posted review or the recommendations of management.
