Pros
Many smart people in a variety of departments. Mission-driven organization with positive values. Many staff have made CareOregon their "home" outside of home.
Cons
Much waste especially at the level of management with too many managers who are not skilled at managing people. It's not clear how supervisors/managers are chosen but it appears to be based on who you know or length of time in the organization. In either case, this decision-making framework has led to poor management in many areas and there is no willingness at the upper levels to let anyone go. Staff do get re-purposed at times but this is to keep from having to terminate them and I bet you can guess how this leads to waste and operational inefficiencies. If you are well-liked, you can retire here just by showing up. There does not seem to be any review of "value added" so, there are too many pieces of dead wood getting paid for contributing little to the organizations productivity.
