Pros
A lot of whether or not you're going to enjoy this company and your career is dependent upon which department you work in, and who your boss is. I work in purchasing/inventory management and absolutely love it. I have the best boss I've ever worked for. He always has a great attitude, and if he's in a bad mood he doesn't let it reflect onto us. He's a hands off, non micromanaging Director. As long as you get your work done and aren't making constant mistakes, he leaves you alone and lets you do your job, like any company should do. Why hire someone you can't trust and need to check up on them after everything they do? It just brings down morale and I am happy to not deal with that. They also have some really good benefits (and some bad). You got 20 days off from day 1 (depending on your start date) but never have to wait more than 2-3 months to get your 20 days. And you do not accrue them, they are given to you upfront. You can work from home from time to time if need be, just don't abuse it. It's a laid back atmosphere where if you're not here at exactly 8 AM or need to head out a little bit early, you have the freedom to do so, again, do not abuse it. While the insurance as a whole isn't that great, the monthly payment for a single person choosing the highest deductible program is only $47 a month. Yes, you may have to reach a large deductible, but with their HSA program and the free money you get with that, as long as you aren't bubble boy and in the hospital weekly, you end up saving money overall. I can see why some people have negative reviews on here. It could be their boss sucks, or it could be the position they're in. If you're a counter sales associate, you're not going to be making tons of money. It's not a position designed for that. It's entry level and you do not even need a college degree. So for what it does pay, it is good. Not to mention they give you every opportunity to work your way up. They also will pay 80% of your tuition if you wish to go back to school or get a graduate degree. The work like balance is great, the best I've had at any job. I am sure I am leaving some out, but you get the gist.
Cons
The high deductible on the insurance plan is definitely a negative. As is the fact they have not given a raise in years. However, the higher ups gave themselves a hefty raise when they didnt hit their bonus plan. They're already making 7 figures and can't help the little guys? Corporate greed at its best. They have also taken away a lot of good benefits such as 11 paid holidays instead of 6. We used to be able to buy 1-2 weeks extra vacation days, they did away with that, why, I have no idea. All's that can do is help them but lowering salary expenses. That's really all that I can think of as negative to this job at the moment. It was a better time before Watsco.
