Pros

The training and support is amazing. It could be viewed as micro management at first, but if you're doing the right things, the reigns loosen up. My experience has been almost completely positive in terms of work environment, great team atmosphere, and moving quickly along the progression model.

Cons

I see two significant cons: the amazingly long hours and the pay structure. The company has recently awarded Bay Area employees a cost of living adjustment, which certainly helps, and if you move along the progression model, base increases are regular. Obviously in sales, the more you sell, the more you make, but the commission structure is not the best in the industry. Meeting quota is not enough to live on. The long days are highly structured, and in order to get everything done that needs to be done, time has to be put in on the back end, which can mean long days get even longer.

Pros

It's just plain wrong for current employees to infer that if you didn't make it at Cbeyond, you are not cut out for sales. I was one of the top sales reps at Cbeyond and have excelled at several other sales positions.

Cons

However, I was not comfortable with skirting around the truth, setting unrealistic expectations, or flat out lying to prospects, which was encouraged often in the Denver office. I was also the unfortunate recipient of a horrible Sales Manager and team at the Denver office, which made coming into work hellish on a daily basis. I believe that being in sales is a position that only yeilds positive results if you are honest, moral, and have integrity, which I found nowhere near the Cbeyond office.

Pros

Decent starting pay once you factor in your commission during your ramp up period. Ability to meet with alot of business owners and get a good sense of the different jobs out there.

Cons

The managers tend to micromanage and look down on employees. Also, the expectations they set are absolutely ridiculous telling you to visit 70-80 businesses per day. You will find yourself walking up and down the street in the summer wearing a suit. Horrible.
