Pros

Flexible hours and scheduling You get to work with some good people No micro managers, you pretty much do your own thing

Cons

Commission cuts of almost 50% over last year Shady and unethical business practices encouraged Unrealistic sales goals You get charged for missing items Over staffing of stores The number of customers coming in the stores has dropped dramatically in the past year. Although you get less sales opportunities due to this, management still staffs the stores the same way. In a commission only job, this is going to affect your paycheck in a very negative way. Sales reps wait over an hour sometimes to get a customer. Less customers = less opportunities to make money Management won't admit that one shift is better than another. However, if you only get to talk to 3 customers on one shift and 12 on the other, which would you prefer as a sales person? To get 100% of your commission you need to hit certain goals. LESS THAN 25% of sales people are hitting these inflated goals. This results in getting paid only a smaller percentage of your commissions. What they show you making on their "Leaderboard" is inflated and assumes you hit all the requirements to get 100% commission. Very misleading! Management pushes you to sell older phones at upward of $100 above retail and adds bogus setup fees to every sale (in addition to Verizon's activation/upgrade fees). The price of phones in some cases is $150 higher than online or at a Verizon corporate store. Customers have caught on to this and therefore don't come back. Years ago, when business was good they paid well. Those days are long gone. Now they can't hire people fast enough. Due to the decrease in pay, they are attracting less talented sales people. It's a vicious cycle that will continue to spiral downward along with your paycheck.
