Stagnant career

Pros

It is a good place to start your career, gain some work experience.

Cons

There is no career development plan, so do not be surprised that there is no career growth or progression. You are forever stuck at the starting point because there are no opportunities to grow or move ahead. Completing work outside your job description, doing your coworkers’ work (because they left) in addition to your own, and going above and beyond will not advance your career. You will be taken advantage of, rather than appreciated. Better to realize this sooner than later, learn what you can, and go somewhere else.

Unhealthy culture

Pros

The building is nice. The furniture is nice. Overall appearance is nice.

Cons

Culture starts from the top and new CEO is toxic. He said turnover is good. This sounds like everyone is disposable, like trash to be taken out. Permission has been granted to treat people like trash so they would leave. For example, CEO ordered everyone back into the office after working more than a year at home due to pandemic. This has caused many outbreaks in the office, thereby hurting employees’ health, families, friends, customers. But people are disposable, so they are shown the door.

Pros

The building is nice. Pay check arrives on time.

Cons

After successfully working remotely for over a year, CEO brought everyone back to the crowded office in the middle of Covid Delta. Outbreaks happen from time to time. He also cut sick days, reduced medical benefits, increased out-of-pocket costs for healthcare. Safety is only talk. Everyone risks getting sick coming into the office, passing it to family, friends, customers. CEO thinks turnover is a good thing, so many people are granting his wish and leaving to go to better places.
