Stagnant low pay

Pros

Most of people at work are friendly.

Cons

The pay is below market. Yearly raise is not enough to catch up, so even the human resources department left for better pay and benefits elsewhere. I was offered 15% more at another company. New hires do not know what they are doing and are paid less, but the training, wasted time, errors add up to a significant cost that is not considered. The short term cost-cutting will come back to bite your rear hard.

Low pay

Pros

The building in downtown Houston is nice. The tunnels in downtown Houston is coming back to life after the pandemic that closed down everything.

Cons

Going above and beyond does not matter. Everyone receives an average annual review. Pay is not competitive to start out and annual raise does not catch up to inflation. So do not accept a low ball offer and expect to catch up. It is a huge expense to hire and train people, only to see them leave because other companies offer higher pay. It also affects morale when people see others leaving. The work will be dumped on to the remaining people, who will then burnout, thereby causing them to leave too.

Pros

It is a good place to start your career and build up your resume. Benefits start on the first day on the job. A few people are very knowledgeable and willing to teach you, but you need to find them and ask questions.

Cons

Pay is below average and annual raise is two percent. With 2021 inflation at seven percent, everyone has been quickly demoted with a big pay cut. As a result, a lot of people are leaving because many places are hiring and paying a lot more.
