Pros

Caring and supportive branch managers. Awesome company culture. Great pride is taken in working here no matter position. Christian based organization where everyone looks out for each other. We are like family. We offer competitive service to our customers which really makes us stand out from our competitors. Company offers amazing benefits including generous paid time off, very decent and affordable healthcare and 401k

Cons

Company could use a good amount of improvement in payroll. Starting pay is industry norm but I feel like they could give us better rates. Also I feel raises and employee evaluations should be more specifically clear especially in the employee handbook. Hopefully that will be worked on soon!

We're losing our mojo, but its still an awesome place

Pros

Its like you work with your family. I've made many of my best friends here. The absolute greatest people you can work with. Nearly every person in this company has a heart of gold.

Cons

We recently moved to a new building, and we've completely lost our culture. This is just growing pains and can be quickly fixed if we want to. The ownership, who we used to be close to and you felt you could talk to nearly all the time, are all but absent from the business -- minus firing off emails. No more open door policies. Managers just seem frustrated all of the time, and are micromanaged from the top. Pay is low, benefits are mediocre, PTO is all but none (so many people come to work sick). Ownership is not open to new ideas - there is no idea that can come to fruition unless it comes from someone named Chadwell. Corporately, we are starting to lose everything we had that made that made this company a great place.

Thank you for your review and comments. We were very concerned about moving into the new building and the effect it would have on the feeling of closeness we have enjoyed in the past. Hopefully you have noticed an improvement over the past 30 days, with pot luck lunches and Appreciation Week events. We will continue to work hard to regain that feeling of togetherness throughout the holiday season. For example, we are having a combined office/warehouse Thanksgiving lunch - even though we are not in the same building anymore. Though it will take time, I am confident that we can get there. Growth is outpacing leadership

Pros

A culture of great people who strive to work hard every day. The employees are a true family. The people around you are not just your co-workers, but people who will do almost anything for you.

Cons

The executive level management has lost touch with the company and its people. And I've been working for this family through multiple companies for many years. They don't even walk around the corporate office and say hello anymore. (A former daily point of pride for some ownership). I've always felt that my entire family was part of the Chadwell family, but, I know otherwise. During a storm that closed most of the county, my coworkers were punished because they needed to care for their children. Owners were around the building telling us that they should have been choosing work over their kids, or that "their wives should be home taking care of the kids". The sexism is embarrassing. I think we're to the point that the payouts to the ownership is more important than the people doing the work to fill their pockets every day, and not the welfare of the greatest asset, their employees.

Thank you for your review and comments. We are proud to use Payscale Reports - http://www.payscale.com - to ensure that we are offering a competitive wage regardless of gender. We are also proud of our Partial-Day PTO program that doesn't force an employee to take an entire day when they need just a few hours to care for an ill loved one. Weather events like we experienced recently in Hillsborough county bring out all kinds of emotions as we make hard choices about what to do in the next hour or day. We need to be sensitive to the needs of individuals as they make decisions regarding how to best care for loved ones. We also must recognize that our Tampa-based group supports hundreds of families who work at Chadwell Supply across the Eastern United States, and that we must rise to meet that challenge, as best we can, during unforeseen events. It is difficult, and it calls for patience and grace under pressure. Family businesses are far from perfect, but it is good to hear that we have a culture that includes great people who strive to work hard every day. That kind of feeling does not exist in every company, so we cherish that sentiment and seek to build upon that strength. I welcome further discussion on how we can make that happen. You can reach out to me via phone, email or just drop by my office. With Gratitude, Robert Chadwell
