Toxic Environment That Allows Workplace Bullying

+I came in prior to the layoffs in April of 2024 so salary was very respectable. Salary is different in 2024/2025 now that corporate greed is at its peak and company’s like Checkr are taking advantage of the market and offering less for those looking for employment. +Incredible teammates. When you work in such a toxic environment, the shared frustration builds camaraderie.

I can only speak to being on the Customer Success team but the environment at Checkr has become progressively toxic since layoffs in ‘24. As a heads up, Checkr has been doing silent layoffs before and after the official layoffs in April of 2024. +Getting a promotion is slim. Also, raises range from 1.2%-2% a year regardless of your end of year performance review +Checkr moved from fully remote to a hybrid model after the layoffs and when Amazon and Meta started making this move. They’re only hiring in Denver and SF locate individuals now. +No 401k benefits. What do you really have to offer if your salary is mediocre, bare minimum benefits, you roll back on all the positive things that promoted employee satisfaction and no remote model? +High performing employees are not valued and management does not push for their development. High performers are leaving in droves, and the ones still there are definitely looking for better opportunities outside of this cesspool +The VP of CS is a robot with very low EQ. Which is ironic since EQ is a skill you have to master in CS. There’s a level of inauthenticity coming from him… He’s just so fake. He’s harsh in his delivery and has no care for the concerns of the people who report to him. He’s said that if leadership above him needs CS to be lean, he has no issues cutting off an arm or leg. Now why would he so comfortably state this to someone reporting to him? He lacks any tact and again, a sign of low EQ. He even mentioned that the negative Glassdoor reviews are meaningless and from former disgruntled employees. He actually said this during a team meeting lol. Okay so their experiences don’t matter? It’s just sad and laughable. Instead of listening to the people who are on the ground grinding, and using that feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement, he throws it away and calls everyone a hater. No one who reports to him (managers and ICs) questions him because they’re afraid of him. During meetings, when he asks his team if they have any questions or comments, it’s radio silence. This is the environment he’s fostered. +If you join the CS team, DONT provide any feedback to the VP of CS. Despite Checkr policy, confidentially is not guaranteed
