Pros

Emotionally supportive management. Sense of family among staff. Good food discount but they make you buy a drink. Flexible scheduling.

Cons

When I worked for Cheddar’s, to make bigger profits the company reduced server’s wages from a measly $2.43 to $2.15. Management’s rationalization was that it’s it’s all about the tips that matter. The restaurant attracts clientele that can not afford to tip well, on top of a very affordable menu. On a separate occasion, the company increased the server’s tip outs to pay for other support staff, in order to supplement the increase in minimum wage. They also would over staff on the weekends and have no work for some of the servers, even though the servers were scheduled to work. It’s the Wal-Mart of the restaurant industry.

Pros

Signing Bonus, they are so desperate for managers they will shell out a $5000 to $10,000 signing bonus, but it took over 18 months to get them to pay it!

Cons

EVERYTHING!! 80 HOURS A WEEK IS NORMAL! They brag about providing short and long term disability insurance for their managers, but I suffered a DEVASTATING injury and was immediately let go, MY MEDICAL INSURANCE WAS CANCELED, and their insurance company left me injured, unable to work or even drive, and desolate with RUINED credit and no income for a full year before my attorney won my case, after they postponed the hearing TWICE making me go the full year without treatment or income! They DO NOT GIVE A DARN ABOUT YOU! I averaged 80 hours a week and had my vacation requests CONSTANTLY DENIED for 2 years without missing ANY WORK AT ALL! I NEVER CALLED IN AND WAS LATE ONE TIME!
