Great place to work, but could use a few tweaks to be amazing

Pros

-Lovely people who, like others have mentioned, are intelligent, passionate, and funny -Working with books is a joy -Good benefits and fun parties -No idea is ever too silly or outlandish -You can never be bored -Upper management is quite accessible

Cons

-Low pay. The profit sharing program is great, but should not be a substitute for a raise, especially in the Bay Area. Comparing salary to other publishing houses doesn't really make anyone feel better when this area is saturated with tech companies that pay nearly double for the same positions -Can feel like there is a hive mind -Would benefit from hiring more diverse employees, including more men, to help bring new ideas to the table

Teammates are great, product is super cool

Cons

Management is completely horrible and does not understand marketing or leadership in any way. HR is a huge problem as well.
