Pros

High salary. Team support on-site ("the Ciber guys"). Very good computers supplied for work. Good benefits. I liked the Ciber sales guy.

Cons

Recruiter made a deal that the corporation did not keep. Incredibly clumsy bureaucracy: for time cards, "on-boarding", expense reports. The PeopleSoft website has the appearance and feel of a site designed in the late Twentieth Century. Lots of "do it twice" to get the result that you want. Never any personal contact with any manager or admin assistant, but lots of requirements, expressed in impolite ways, to "fill out the forms correctly." Corporate integrity is a real problem.

Pros

Ciber pays well as long as you know how to negotiate. If you like CBT training, it is free with Ciber Federal. If your job site is accessiable by metro, Ciber will reimburse you up to $100 / month. Basically, your experience is what you make of it.

Cons

Ciber Federal is a very small company, too small to be the prime contractor, who wins government contracts. Therefore, they are one of the many small fishes who competes with many other small subcontractors to fill in open position by the prime to make money on each of their consultants. Because they are small company, if the prime cuts the subs and Ciber has no other openings to move you, you will be looking for a new jobs. You also may not like where they send you, you will have not choice on where you want to go. The account managers are only there to make money for Ciber Federal and show the numbers to their boss. If you look unhappy or they see your resume online, they will talk to you to fix the problem. Basically, they do not want to lose money. Thoese openings are hard to fill for Ciber esp. with security cleared people. Here is the biggest reason why I would never work for them again, read the HANDBOOK, if you leave and have alot of PTO, you will let you cash out all of it. For me, I got 30% because I was there for less than 5 years. Their explanation, every company is doing it. NO, just Ciber. If you are leaving and have alot of PTO, they will not let you take leave. Lesson: if you plan to leave and been there about 1-2 years, take your leave before you submit your resignation. Since I left, I found much better companies and opportunities than Ciber Federal. Also, don't always believe Ciber managers to take care of you. You got to do what is best your career.
