Pros

Overall a strong company that's not going anywhere. Solid commission and bonus plan along with good benefits and descent car package. Only 2 half days spent in the office per week. Ability to adjust product pricing to be competitive against competition.

Cons

Corporate beyond belief. Sales and service do not mesh, and might as well be two different companies. Micromanagement, micromanagement, micromanagement. Expect to spend more time filling out sales reports, activity reports, doing field rides with management, and doing contract paperwork rather than selling. Even field rides with prospective new hires are a way they try to micromanage you and try to catch you not following the activity model. Phone calls and cold calls are endless, and your expected to close 3/4 new businesses per week to hit your numbers... which is doable, but often times you can't always sign up high quality business that are going to pay their bills at that rate and you end up signing up businesses that are going to be problematic 3 months down the road. It's very much a what have you done for me lately mentality, and don't expect to have any growth opportunities unless you drink the Kool Aid and lie about sales activity and pretend like there are no issues that need to be dealt with. The more you sell the more fires you put out. Be prepared to deal with unhappy and unwilling workers on the service side of things who take over your accounts once you sell them. They will divert all problems to you, which then takes time away from actually selling. The top sales reps are people who have deals fall into their laps and unfortunately they then get praised and promoted leading to managers that have no idea what the true grind of a sales rep is like. Overall, just avoid a sales position here. There are better companies out there to sell for and who will pay you just as much, if not more. They have an outdated way of doing things and have no reason to change since their competition in the industry is downright awful. The industry is dirty and known for lengthy contracts, suing former customers, high service charges, and outrageous price increases.

Pros

Good products. Good commission structure. Theoretically adequate training. When all the parts get it right, there is no better first aid and safety company.

Cons

...the problem is, they almost never get it right. I was thrown onto a route with 0 product training, no introduction to thier sales process and no info on current customers. I spent the first few months convincing angry customers not to quit. I was there a year and a half before I was able to go to thier week-long new service rep training, so much of I already knew. As mentioned by others, I was constantly hamstrung by lack of product or slow delivery. I understand the need for corporate uniformity, but the constant, required meetings and busy work felt monotonous and pointless. Also as mentioned often, there is no work-life balance. It is expected that work comes first, last and always. I worked 12 hour days, often putting in time on the weekends trying to catch up. This emphasis seemed to come straight from the top.

Pros

Pros: You meet some incredibly hard working people from hispanic backgrounds that are essentially working harder than anyone else in the company.

Cons

Cons: They act very "excited" (this is a scripted term they use at Cintas) to have you join their team. Depending on where you live, base salary can be anywhere from 45k to 50k. During the interview process they tell you about your car package that you will be receiving, your gas card, and your car insurance being paid for. However, once you're hired, you soon realize that they are also hiring in 4 other people for the exact same role that you were hired in for. Then the Sales Manager (acting like they already told you this) tells you that you all will be competing for the only territory available and that you'll have to earn the car package, credit card, and car insurance. I wouldn't recommend taking this job unless you're in desperate need of the money that they pay you to train. OH AND BY THE WAY-- this *earning your territory" consists of you driving around and selling Cintas products WITHOUT BEING PAID FOR YOUR SALES, WITHOUT BEING COMPENSATED FOR GAS, AND WITHOUT HAVING YOUR INSURANCE PAID FOR.
