Pros

Unlimited PTO - in the case of my manager and team, it is truly flexible and I was never told I was taking too much time off.

Cons

Lack of direction and management - my manager never offered me constructive feedback, timelines, and plans for projects. I had little idea of what I was supposed to be doing on a day to day basis. Every time I got stuck, I was offered little assistance from my manager and knew nobody else to ask. I had to figure everything out myself via the Internet and various CS forums. No growth - my job seemed like a dead-end job. No clear path for advancement. Wasn't learning no skills in my job. No variety in projects - I was working on the same project my entire time at the company (almost 2 years)

Pros

+ It's remote work, Some days a lot less less work than others so it can be very relaxed at times. Same as most other remote positions. + Some positions may have a really good work life balance. + Could be a good stepping stone. Other companies will see this company name on a resume and be very excited to hire you after you decide to leave. + Most people you work with here are truly good people, some can totally ruin your day, but most of them tend to be great.

Cons

- Sometimes you are pushed to take on responsibilities that are not really at all in your job description. - Hardly offers any internal career growth, annual pay increases are very small (0-2%, maybe 5% total if you get a promotion). Was better pre-merger. - Low base pay compared to others in the industry. Not a clue why GD says the ranges are so high, they're not that high. - Flex time off isn't really a positive - employees tend to take less time with flex time off because they think they're requesting too much. - Same normal issues with larger corporate companies. A lot of headache statements like "This is beyond my control", "We need to get that approved through XYZ first", "We will know more in a few months once XYZ event happens", etc. from management which causes frustration, added work, and scope creep. - Sometimes completing work can feel unfulfilling.
