Pros

Great benefits, initiatives, salary, product discount, good place to learn to apply outside.

Cons

Huge company, very conservative, processes are antiquated, little reward, no culture, there is always "no budget", yet CEO stays in $7K/night villas when traveling.

Pros

metro ny store. Getting free stuff is always a pro. I have tons of skincare and makeup to last a while. 280$ for full timers 3x a year.

Cons

So many things. Department manager is very unprofessional siding with our vindictive counter manager. The counter manager steals our sales, stays 3-4 hours extra everyday and takes people's shift so she can work 6 days a week. She already makes the override and a nice salary but she is so greedy. No one likes to work with her! So why keep her???? Executives play favoritism with the youngest most beautiful girls at the counter. I have the most experience and I'm always making my goal and always offering to stay extra to help out with stock or cleaning. I'm always on time. But nope. They promote the butt kissers who show up late, leave early, take every weekend off.... What? I really don't understand. Makes me sick. Presale goal is outrageous 5000$ are you kidding me? I refuse to do it. Stealing people's credit cards to keep on file and making them come back a month or weeks later. Why? I'll tell you why, because they want more business. They figure they reserve today and then when they pick up they will buy more. Why? For a crappy gift with ugly colors and nothing good inside? Manager does not care about you or what's going on in your life. Tells you to leave it At the door, or maybe this isn't the job for you. Appointment goals for weekly or monthly events that are stupid. "What to come to our event and get a free service on us" yeah sure let them come in and waste an hour of my time and buy nothing. Still refuse to book appointments, probably why I have the highest sales because I don't pressure my clients. But oh wait, highest sales means nothing. I WILL NEVER EVER move up in this company because I'm not 21 anymore. They make you dress in a white lab coat made of cheap polyester that makes you sweat. It get stained within 30 seconds of starting a shift. You can never fully get the stains out. Coats turn gray or yellow but manager won't get us new ones. Uniform is dressing like a dude. Crew neck black shirt, God forbid you show some neck. Black slacks, no leggings or tight pants. (I still wear leggings go ahead say something) only closed toe black dress shoes, that make your feet blow up from standing all day. Hair MUST BE PULLED BACK, makes me look like a man, it's not fair. No jewelry unless it's silver and small. Only Clinique makeup (or lie) Clinique, tell me something, why do you make us suffer? No wonder your sales are down! Your employees are miserable. Stop giving away 3000 gifts online and still expect them to come to the store to sit down. Why would they? They don't have free stuff at the counter every single time? Every customer expects a plethora of gifts even if they just buy 1 eyeliner. Go screw yourself ! No free gifts for greedy people. Clinique, learn a few things from this...you are losing money for every reason I mentioned. If you refuse to believe it then continue to decline. I am one of your hardest working people. Always on time. Always pleasing every client. Always making my goal. Always helping everyone out. I am under appreciated. I am very disappointed. :(

Pros

A lot of customers have been coming here forever, so it's easy to sell to them

Management is extremely rude and micromanages us to death When counter sales are down, management takes their stress out on us - there is nothing we can do if no one is coming into the store! Pay is very poor compared to similar positions at other companies HR is a complete joke and has no idea how to resolve conflicts between coworkers Dress code is extremely strict to begin with, and my counter manager decided to make up even more rules and yell at me and make a scene when I wasn't aware of these imaginary extra dress code rules Coworkers steal sales from me all the time just because I'm newer Coworkers are very racist against Somalians If you work inside Macy's, you have to open an unrealistic amount of credit cards The focus on clients is stupid - it is virtually impossible to have 20% of your sales come from existing clients unless you've worked here for like 10+ years Calling customers to thank them is uncomfortable - this company is very behind on the times Products are boring, lack of colors, eyeshadows are barely pigmented and extremely powdery Products don't even come close to keeping up with current trends
