A Place that Truly Cares

Pros

One of the top reasons I chose Metrolink was because I could tell that the people that I interacted with during the interview process truly cared, not only for me but also for my family. A couple of reasons I feel this way: flexibility in commute times / work from home options to ensure enough time spent with my family during important times, and special arrangements for when my daughter was born (only 4 months after being at the company). Upper management does not only care for your personal life, but also for your professional growth. There are constant opportunities to expand your knowledge in whichever area that you are employed in. Certifications, conferences, and meetups are some of the options you have in growing your skillset professionally. There is always a willingness from management to allow you to learn, you just have to take the step in doing it. There are constant team building and community events that take place: - Every Friday we have a team lunch, which is a great time to sit back and relax with the team on a different level. - We do team building events once a month to get out of the office and experience [new] things together as a team (bowling, axe throwing, go karts, paintball, etc.). - Once a month we volunteer in the community somewhere in MD, DC, or VA. A lot of companies will tell their employees that there is an open door policy. The same is true here. The difference that I've seen at Metrolink however, is upper management's ability to LISTEN to what you have to say. I know that when I walk into one of their offices I will be listened to and heard. They are open to change when it comes to policies and procedures. One last thing I will note: they give you the tools to get your job done. If you have a specific tech item that helps you be more productive, they will get it for you. This may seem like a small thing, but I've worked in places where I could not get a $70 piece of software approved to make my life easier.

Cons

There are pros and cons to every workplace and Metrolink is not exempt from that list. Here is a couple that I've observed: - 3.5% match on 401k (I feel like this could be a bit higher) - Bigger office space is needed (so we don't need to eat lunch at our desks)

A Wonderful Internship Experience

Pros

Metrolink Networks is a comfortable, professional, and flexible company to work with. The president, Mr. Husein Sharaf, never abuses his authority and always shows respect and kindness for his team. Personally, that helped boost my confidence because that was my first internship experience and I was pretty nervous on my first day working at Metrolink Networks. The company does a great job valuing their clients and their businesses, which is an important value that any company should have. Lastly, Metrolink Networks is a very flexible company. I can attest to this because during my internship, I had two other commitments that I had to attend to. Mr. Sharaf and his team were very understanding and they had no problem with me attending those commitments and coming back. Overall, Metrolink Networks is an amazing company to work at and they made my first internship experience a wonderful internship experience.

Cons

I honestly do not have any downsides with working at Metrolink Networks.

Pros

If you’ve previously worked for a “large corporation” you may appreciate working in an environment where you are not “just a number”. The company has made a focus in creating a very open and collaborative work environment focused on serving its clients, our community, and the success of its employees. The company really takes its core values to heart and its personally rewarding to know how we have impacted and helped our clients and that the company celebrates and rewards our collective success. Pros: A growing company with challenging and diverse work, management that is supportive of its employees’ goals, an open and collaborative environment, great people and camaraderie, excellent team building activities are among a few things I can think of offhand.

Cons

Because of the small based teams and stripped down management, each team member is heavily relied on and equally important to the success of each project. Often times, you’ll find you’ll have to quickly adapt and learn new skills to fill in gaps when needed, but I personally find this rewarding as I am continually adding to my skill sets and knowledge and the company is very supportive in offering assistance to get you the additional resources and training needed.
