Pros

- Work from home - People are friendly - Work life balance is decent, clock in and out and then try to forget about the company. But get ready to be Slacked and expected to respond on your off hours.

Cons

- There is no career growth. Career growth is one thing many employees look for. After being at Clutter for over a year, there was no mention or talk about growing skills or advancing in the company. A lot of promises but no follow through. - If the only PROs about a company is working from home, that's a red flag. - There's no company or team culture. - Clutter touts itself as a diverse company, but in reality, it's not. - No one wants to take responsibility for anything, so there tends to be a lot of shuffling tasks around until someone is willing to take it. - CEO is not honest and likes to put out generic 'positive' statements during town halls. CEO mentioned in early 2022 that the company was recession-proof and that they had made many decisions during Covid that would ensure breakeven/profitability of the company, alluding to not needing to do layoffs since Clutter was in better standing in comparison to other tech companies. I was fortunate enough to not be laid off, but this does not bode well for those who are still at the company. How many more lies must employees get until the day they get that unfortunate news? I would take everything Ari has to say with a grain of salt, lots of platitudes for a sinking ship. - Clutter made the WORST decision ever to acquire Makespace, this is where Clutter made one of the most typical tech moves by acquiring their top competitor in order to capture more of the market. Clutter literally acquired all the worst parts of Makespace while paying top dollar valuation for it. With Makespace came hundreds and hundreds of accounts with damages, leading to horrible customer reviews. Check Yelp and Twitter if you don't believe me. Clutter chose to capture more market share instead of beefing up their customer support/experience teams and improving the quality of the products/services. - Customer Service is outsourced to a 3rd party company, turnover in that department is insane, imagine how much lapse in information and processes there must be when a contractor is on the job for a few months at a time. The results of this can be viewed on Yelp and Twitter, filter by most recent on those sites. - If you work at Clutter and put your employment status on LinkedIn, get ready to be DMed every now and then by a customer about why their items are missing/damaged or why their appointment has been canceled/delayed. Not to mention, you definitely DO NOT want to share your work or personal email with customers as you'll be contacted directly instead of customers following the process on their Web Portal. Why does this happen? Because customer service is so horribly managed at this company, read the previous bullet point. - There's some ego when it comes to employees in higher, more technical positions, get ready to either get ghosted or get no help at all when you're reaching out to those people. I guess when you're making 6 figures you're obligated to not lend a helping hand to those in less technical positions. There are only a FEW select people in this cohort that are legitimately nice and caring people, seek them out and stick to them, they'll help you out and help you advance your career. And this is only if they are still working there given the wild roller coaster Clutter has been the last few months. - For months and months, Clutter has been overbooking their schedule, thus forcing their Ops and CX teams to reach out to customers to tell them why they cannot accommodate a certain date and must push them back a few weeks or even a month. Not only is this a horrible customer experience, but imagine how much more work these teams are doing just to solve an issue that could be circumvented if the execs just decided to limit the number of allowable bookings, but I guess having prospective bookings/revenue is more important than the customer experience and the unnecessary workload thrusted on the employees. - Treatment of employees on the frontlines (Movers and Drivers) is bad. Pay may be decent for such a physical job, but employees are expected to work 8-12 hours on most days and in extreme weather conditions (Heat in LA, winters and hurricanes in NY), it's difficult to support a company that doesn't support the largest core of their employee base. I'm honestly surprised Clutter is still in business due to the fact they violate Department of Transportation laws on a daily basis.

Thank you for this detailed feedback – we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, even though it was negative. We have made some changes over the last couple months, including in some of the areas you outlined, and are always trying to improve our employee experience. Your comment about DOT violations is particularly concerning, though, so if you are comfortable sharing additional information and examples, please email compliance@clutter.com so that we can look into them. We take these matters seriously and definitely want to hear about any safety concerns. Thank you!

Pros

I joined Clutter as a customer service specialist for a summer, before leaving for a salaried role in product. I was working in operations not product. - Startup culture. everyone is young, super hardworking, things move fast, and people’s positions definitely shifted + you could wear different hats if there was need, like help out in different departments such as claims or dispatch - Free catered lunches and kitchen snacks was super nice - Learned a lot about problem-solving on the spot - A good place to get your feet wet if you're starting your career

Cons

- High turnover rate. People were fired all the time, which gave me the sense that there was a hire big and fast, natural selection kind of culture - Amazon culture. 3 strikes to be terminated - people were docked for being 1 minute late, and your lunch had to be exactly 30 minutes. It was honestly stressful, way more intense than I’ve ever experienced. - Little room for career advancement. if you’re hoping to advance your career in product and tech, this position is not it. there was a very clear divide - where there was even 2 offices. A few were able to become a project manager but only after staying many, many years - you’re better off at other companies that’ll get you there faster - Unstable. Type of role will be automated and replaced in x years; plus, with layoffs, you’d probably be aimed first
