Pros

I have nothing good to say

Cons

Due to the "restructuring" in November, I was informed that I would need to apply for another role in the company. Upon further probing and silence from HR FOR WEEKS, I was told there were NO jobs in my area and I would be impacted by the layoffs. They said they got rid of "duplicative roles" which simply is not true. How are you going to layoff a whole sales team OF TOP PERFORMERS and not offer any of them positions on other sales teams in the company? But yet, right after, you're on social media promoting OPEN SALES POSITIONS that could have been filled by the people they let go? CoStar purchased Homesnap simply for the tech and the MLS partnerships, and showed us the people were dispensable. Avoid this company. Job security is not a thing. Morale is incredibly low. Leadership does not listen and is not on your side. HR is a joke and will retaliate against people who come forward with complaints.

It’s pretty bad here

Pros

Coworkers are great, work life balance for most of the year is good too. Free food/coffee/snacks in all offices. Free parking in DC. Requires everyone to be vaccinated.

Cons

Where do I start?! It starts from top down. CEO has strict no work from home policy for anyone. Managers/directors are afraid to speak up, as are employees in fear of retaliation. So many Covid cases throughout the year after he required everyone to be back in office. And now one of the VA offices have fully empty floors due to Covid outbreak. And the company is doing nothing about it. They blame employees for not getting the booster yet for the outbreak, but come on. It’s because of coming into the office everyday. And most cities have ditched their mask policy, making transmission so much easier. No wonder there’s so many people quitting everyday and stock is not doing well. Also, very tech heavy org. No project managers because Andy “doesn’t believe in them”. So if you’re functional, good luck on getting anywhere with your career here.

Pros

Good health insurance, which if you’re healthy doesn’t really matter. (1 star) Great training, which doesn’t really matter when you can’t use it effectively. (1 star)

Cons

This is specific to the multi family side, apartments.com, but the info sales side is pretty bad too. There are so many cons. But here are some of the highlights: If you don’t have existing relationships to squeeze money out of property management executives you CANNOT make money here. If you’re lucky they will throw you 25% of a deal if it’s sold into your territory. Your territory will change without your consent, in my case three times in 8 months. Completely changed and the first change happened before I even started and was 35-90 miles from my home. Your performance is based on checking off boxes for visiting with properties for meetings with no real purpose for the most part. They also have telemarketers call behind on 10% of your meetings to “ensure” you were there and dressed professionally. Many of my clients found it intrusive and offensive towards me because of the nature of the questions. Sales, millions of dollars in sales are tracked on a SPREADSHEET, a freaking SPREADSHEET! That you can request changes from your manager (who is bonused on their teams sales for) so dozens of people can make changes to the numbers. Ridiculous. The CRM or CRMS (there are several) are ancient. They only use sales force for bill credits and your manager won’t even know how to use them so don’t bother asking. Lastly, you’re selling ONE product, advertising on apartments.com there is no upsell except for a level up on an ad package. This is not the job for a professional outside sales person.
