We’re proud of our benefits too, although we’re sad to see you go. While I can’t speak with respect to your individual pay situation, we’re always assessing compensation against the market. We’re also focused on seeing research associates advance internally. In fact, more managers are promoted from within than hired externally, and as an expanding company many researchers have taken advantage of the opportunity to move to a new city or focus on an expanding market constantly being offered. We also welcome internal applicants to our open roles in other departments, which gives employees the chance to take their next career step with the company, even if it’s not in Research.

Pros

Good salary, good office location and gives you some connections within the real estate industry that are beneficial.

Cons

Where to begin... There is no forward progress within the company. You can only go so far but still have the some duties and tasks. Every day looks exactly the same: pick up the phone and call. The turnover rate is atrociously high because they can't keep people without burning them out. The interview process is so misleading and not many people can tolerate the constant daily metrics.

We’re constantly striving to provide opportunities for our research associates. In fact, more of our managers have been promoted from within than hired externally. Call metrics can be challenging, but calls are among the most important functions of the research team because they drive value not just for CoStar but the people we’re calling. Researchers help make commercial real estate markets function by discovering and analyzing critical information from brokers. Like anyone else, brokers and other real estate professionals can have bad days or be busy, but with consistent communication our researchers build relationships with their contacts that make the job easier for the people on both ends of the call. And it’s those relationships that keep clients with us five years or more at a 98% renewal rate.

Pros

Lot of perks and great health insurance

Cons

Does not look at the person but only the numbers. Targets move way too much and you need a PH.D. To decipher if you are getting paid correctly. Always found errors but was never sure if I found them all. Commission plan says it is uncapped but each year adjusted to keep the salespeople from making too much money. Based on a culture of fear. Everyone is afraid when senior management comes around not happy. The fear and quick trigger firing culture makes you on edge the whole time you are there. Terrible place to work.
